Inferesting Show
One of the most' interesting
Christmas projects in the commu
nity was the Christmas Flower
Show, sponsored by the Bobbin
Mill Garden Club on December
21. The show was in the nature
of a doorway decoration contest
among the members of the Club.
A number of interesting and orig
inal arrangements were executed,
@nd the public is cordially invited
to see and enjoy these doorways.
The show was judged by three
nationally accredited flower show
judges.
The arrangements were divided
into two classes; traditional
schemes and non-traditional, or
modern. First prize in the tradi
tional class was won by Mrs. B.
L. Flanigen on West Lake Drive.
Mrs. Flanigen’s doorway showed
a beautifully conceived arrange
ment, resulting in a restrained
and dignified effect which gave a
delightful feeling of hospitality.
‘The use of artificial snow on iron
‘hand rails and steps, repeating the
‘white of the residence, gave ex
ice]lent unity to the entire scheme.
~ One of the most thoroughly
studied and completely executed
entries, done by Mrs. Allen Ho
gan, 1477 Lumpkin Street, won
second place. The judges felt that
Mrs. Hogan’s doorway showed an
excellent relationship of the en
terior of the residence to the door
‘way and the exterior landscape.
Mrs. John Green, 226 Clover
hurst, was awarded third prize
with a delightful arrangement of
Deodar cedar foliage and pine
cones, and old Swiss cow bells
and a small carved wood bear.
Honorable mention was award
ed Mrs. W. C. Hartman and Mrs.
Dan D. Greer of the Mathis
Apartments on Lumpkin Street,
and Mrs. W. A. Mathis, 725 Mill
edge Circle.
In the non-traditional group,
Mrs. Garnett Daniel, Rocky Ford
Road, was awarded first place.
Her arrangement featured a cedar
wreath and poincettia. The judges
