ON THE
AIIR - WAVES
Two unpunished accomplices of
a thug serving time for a bank
robbery arrange a jail break for
their pal, in “The Man with the
Dark Glasses” on WGAU-CBS'
“F. B. I. In Peace and War,” to
night at B:00. Field Agent Shep
pard discovers the plot, however,
and the couplée’s sinister motives
for freeing their partner.
“Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Per
sons” becomes interested in “The
Case of the Murdered Bride
g:)m" on WGAU-CBS at 8:30.
nett Kilpack plays “Mr.
Keen.”
Dauny Kaye on “Suspense’’—
and as a murderer, at that!
It may sound like one for Rip
ley, But Danny will play a
straight dramatic role — without
a singlée gag when he guests in
the “Suspense” production of
“The Too Perfect Alibi” over
WGAU-CBS at 9:00 p. m,
“If this one clicks, maybe I'll
try Hamlet,” cracked the come
diai.
“l have a feeling” commented
producer director Tony Leaders,
“that Kaye is going to be extra
ordinary good. After all, there’s
no reason why an actor who is a
genius at reading comedy lines
should not be similarly gifted in
other kinds of roles.”
“One of the biggest kicks I get
on this show,” Leader added, “Is
in taking film stars out of the Hol
lywood groove of type-casting and
givitg them a real chance to test
thelr dramatic potential.”
l{aye plays the role of the frus
trated third party in a love-trian
gle. He murders his rivals, after
working m a perfect alibi to
protect himself,
~ Unexpectedly, however, his ali
bi casts suspicion on the girl, who
is tried for the murder. Kay's
des?erate attempts to free her by
confessing are to no avail, because
his alibi was so perfect that no
oneé will believe his confessoion.
Jane Wyman, hailed by movie
critics for her gerformance in the
film “Johnny Belinda,” is starred
in “Clay Shuttered Doors,” adap
ted to radio from the story by
Helen Hull, on WGAU-CBS’
‘l'gl%lmark Playhouse,” tonight at
This story deals with a woman
deeply in love with her ambitious
husband, who married her only
for social standing. Apparently
killed in an automobile accident,
the wife revives in response to her
spouse’s pleas, The story takes a
supernatural turn when she dis
covers that he never loved her.
At 11:30 Friday morning all of
the ladies are invited to try their
luck as a winner on the “Ring the
Bell” show. All you have to do, is
know your music and then call
Bill and tell him the answer. Of
course, you are only allowed to
win one a week. If you are fast
and right you can be a winner

Dutch Action
In Indonesia
Is Condemned
The United World Federalists
have condemned the recent Dutch
action in Indonesia’ and have
written ‘a strong letter to Presi
dent Truman to that effect, ac
cording to Dr. Robert Levit, pres
ident of UWF of Athens. The let
ter was written by Cord Meyer,
jr., and the national executive
committee of UWF and is believ
ed to express the sentiment of the
bulk of the organizations’ mem
bership.
After condemning the precipi
tate action taken recently by the
Netherlands in spite of Urg ob
jections, the letter goes on to
state that these actions of the
Dutch government, normally so
moderate and law abiding, is a
perfect example of why the UN
must be transformed into a world
government.
“Lack of Respect” |
The letter states: “The complete
lack of respect that the Dutch
Government has shown I.f’or the
recommendation of the N and
the failure of that organization to
halt this ebvious act of aggression
provide conclusive proof of the
fatal weakness of the UN’s pres
ent structure. Just as Mussolini’s
invasion of Ethigpia reduced the
League of Nations to final impo
tence; so the Dutch attack may
well and all hope for internation
al security in our time, unless the
UN is quickly given the legal au
thority and material power it
now lacks.”
President Truman is also re
quested to begin steps to strength
en the UN by giving the UN con
stitutional authority to prevent
aggression “through world laws
binding both on individuals and
natural governments.” “U. N. exe
cutive, legislative, and judicial
organs- and a world -police -force,”
continues the letter, ‘“must be es
tablished through which such
laws can be justly administered
and promptly enforced. . . There
48 still time to substitute- workd
laws, courts and police force for
naked force and the suicidal game
of power politics.”
