A dinner honoring four fresh
man scholarship winners, two wo
men from the School of Home
Economics,sand two men from the
College of Agriculture! was held
this week at the University of
Georgia. The scholarships,. al
ready awarded by the Kroger
Company, were for S2OO.
Home Economics winners are
Louise Kemp, Powder Springs, and
Virginia Terry, Chatsworth. Men
are Bobby Dooley, Watkinsville,
and Carol Sirmans, Nashville.
At the dinner, which was attend
ed by members of the University
faculty and representatives of the
Kroger Company, Dean Paul W.
Chapman of the College of Agri
culture and Dean Pauline. Park
Wilson of the School of Home Eco
nomics introduced and compli
mented the winners. -

son on Friday, January 14, who
has been named Howell Cobb Er
win, ITI. Mrs. Erwin is the former

much interest was that of Miss
Georgia Elizabeth Lewis to George
Leighiton Dickerson, which was
solemiized on Thursday, January
6th, at the home of the bride'’s
parents, Mr, and Mrs. John Chap
man (Lewis, in Sparta. The Rev.
Roy €. Owen, pastor of the Sparta
Methodist Church, performed the
ceremony.
The popular bride, 1946 honor
gragiuate of the Sparta High
School, is an outstanding student
of the University of Georgia,
whfre she made Alpha Lambda
Delta scholastic sorority in her
freshiman year, She is & member
iot?th_e Delta Delta Delta social
sorprity. Her mother is the for
‘mer Miss Sadie Rhodes, of Sparta.
Mr. Dickerson is the son of Mr.
Robert Lee Dickerosn and Mrs.
Emma Smith Dickerson, of Birm
inghama and Atlanta. He is a
brother “of Mrs. D. W, Stoddard
and Howard W. Dickerson of Long
Beach, California. He is a student
of the University of Georgia,
where he is a member of the Pi
Kappa Alpha fraternity. He serv
ed three years in the United Stats
Army during World War Two.
After their wedding trip, Mr.
and Mrs. Dickerson will resume
their studies at the University.
