Kiwanian Ladies’ Night
Features Variety Program
The Athens Kiwanis Club re
cently held its annual Ladies night
party at the YWCA gymnasium.
President W. A. Mathis presided
over the large gathering of Ki
wanians, their wives, and guests.
The ladies of the YWCA served
the supper.
Among the features of the vari
ety program were a speech by J.
P. Luther, newspaper man of
Americus, Ga., on the subject “The
Best Years of Our Wives”; a tap
dance by Miss Claudette Under
wood with Mrs. Sallie Fannie Yow
playing the piano; three violin se
lections by Raymond Page: and
several solos and novelty duets
and quartets by members of the
University of Georgia Glee club
accompanied by Kiwanian Byron
Warner on the piano.

Assets Sale
Stockholders of the Northeast
Georgia Livestock Marketing As
sociation voted at a called meeting
Friday morning tc offer the assete
of the association for sale and to
empower the board of directors of
the group to make the sales. |
Sales of livestock will not be
discoutinued or affected by the ac
tion, however, officials of the as
sociation brought out, but it is
hoped that sales at the cattle barn
here will be even more active.
Anyone interested in buying as
sets of the Association should sub
mit bids to A. P. Winston, presi
dent of the Association and chair
man of the board of directors, be
fore March 28. A meeting of the
directors for consideration of bids
for purchase of the assets is sched
uled for March 28 at the Chamber
of Commerce building.

dale-Lawhorn Commission Com
pany of Atlanta and Smith Live
stock Company of Augusta, were
represented at the meeting Fri
day. Both companies indicated a
definite interest in purchase of the
assets, revealed D. L. Branyon,
