THE REV. DAN IVERSON
The Rev. Dan Iverson, pastor of the Shenandoah Presbyterian
Church of Miami, Fla., will begin a series of services on Monday.
May. 16 at the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Iverson is well
known here as he is a native Georgian and an alumnus of the
University of Georgia. He conducted similar services here last year
in connection with the Program of Progress of the Presbyterian
Churches, and is being asked back by popular request. The services
are to be held each morning at 7:30 (doughnuts and coffee will be
served following the service each a. m.) and each evening at 8
p. m. A cordial invitation is extended to everyone to attend these
meetings. Mr. Iverson will arrive in Athens in time for the Men’s
Club supper on Saturday evening and he is to preach at the Sunday
morning service at 11 o’clock.

Jim W. Bailey, well known res
ident of the Princeton communi
| ty, died at his home Friday morn
|ing at 2:55 o’clock. Mr, Bailey
| was 82 years old and had been ill
{for only thirty-six hours.
| Services are to be held Saturday

| Bridges Chapel with “Rev. Bill
| Bowen, Methodist pastor, and
| Rev. Newt Saye, Baptist minister,
| officiating.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Lucy Bowles.Bailey;i

Bailey and Lucy Sleby Bailey, all
of Athens, seven nieces and one
nephew.
A native of Clarke county, Mr.
Bailey was a lifelong resident of
this community. For many years
he was a member of the Athens
Fire Department, first as a volun
teer and later as a regular mem
ber. He was regarded as one of
this section’s best painters and
followed this trade most of his
life. &

She is an attractive teen-age miss |
whose spirits fare always soaring |
to the heights or sinking to the |
depths.
Mr. Thompson plays the part of |
Judy’s father, Melvin Foster, who |
is constantly worried .by his |
daughter’s antics. Dora Foster is |
portrayed by Jane McMullan. |
Mrs. Foster tries to be patient’
with her family through ali their |
trials, bat sometimes finds it a bit |
difficult. |
Stage Show Popular l
“A Date With Judy” scored hits |
as a radio program and as a mo- |
tion picture, and the stage produc- |
tion is proving itself to be just as|
popular. The play is a comedy in |
three acts, the plot revolving |
around Judy as she tries to get
more subscriptions than Footsie;
Whiteman so that she can be |
crowned queen of the high school
| dance. {
~ The play will be presented one
' night only, Monday, May 16.
| Adults tickets are now on sale for
75 cents and children’s tickets fm'\
