though you had stepped out of a
bandbox is easy to master.
All there is to it, according to

THE BANNER-FAETALD, ATHENS, GEORGIA,
Dress Comfortably, Pack Wisely,
Use Groorning Aids, Savs Expert
stuffed with handy grooming aids,
and traveling duds which combine
style with comfort.
Miss Lane, who is the travel ex
pert of a large oil company, has
had to master all of the tricks of
turning a car into a gas-propelled
bandbox.
Her method of packing is to put
heavy articles at the bottom of
the bag. That way, the weighty
stuff stays at the bottom and does
not fall backward to crush clothes
when portable luggage is upped by
its handle.
The most useful space-saving
tips from our expert can be sum
med up as follows: Tuck stock
ings into shoes and shield shoes
with plastic bags. Roll up sweat
ers and other non-crushables. Fill
handbag cavities with Dbelts,
scarves and gloves.
;| Packing lingerie, suits, blouses
and dresses into separate piles
lmakes items needed en route
available without having to ran-
sack a bag, says Miss Lane.
She suggests carrying bulky
suits and long evening dresses in
cleaners’ bags which may be hung
up ‘in a car or folded flat and
placed on or above a back seat or
in the automobile trunk.
To make good-grooming aids
that you’ll need en route more ac
cessible, Miss Lane’s idea of stuf
fing an empty shoe bag with es~
sentials is an excellent one. Her
trick is to pin such a bag to the
upholstery on the back of the
front car seat and to fill the poc
kets with hand lotion, sun lotion,
hair nets, skin-freshing pads, sun
glasses, tissues, comb and brush,
an extra pair of clean white gloves
and extra stockings.
Best choice of traveling clothes
for the vacationer-on-wheels, says
Miss Lane, is a three-piece dark
cotton playsuit which combines
shirt, shorts, and skirt. In the
shirt and shorts you can travel in
comfort. You can top shorts with
the cover-up skirt when you want
to emerge modestly dressed at
stop-over points and when you are
ready to step. out unmussed at
journey’s end.

Turning off street lights as an
