3. The purpose of said corpora
tion is pecuniary gain and profit
to its shareholders.

selling establishments and to do
whatever is necessary to carry on
this business.
(b) To buy and sell, acquire,
own, hold, rent, lease, transfer
and assign both real estate and
personal property of every kind
and character and to deal with
the same in any way and manner
that may seem expedient.
(¢c) To have all of the powers
and to enjoy all of the privileges
enumerated therein Chapter
22-18 and 22-19 of the Code of
Georgia and all of the powers
and privileges enumerated there
in and made a part hereof to the
same extent as if the same were
quoted herein,
§. The time for which said
corpo: tion is to have existence
is thirty-five (33) years.
6. The amount of capital stock
with which the corporation will
begin business shall be $1,500.00
either in cash or other assets or
& combination of the two.
7. The capital stock of said cor
poration shall be divided into 150
shares of eommon stock of the
face or par value of SIO.OO per
share,
The holders of the common
stock shall control the corpora
tion. The holders of each share of
common stock shall be entitled to
one vote per share.
The applicants desire the priv
ilege of increasing the stock of
the said ecorporation to 1,000
shares of common stock of the
par value of SIO.OO per share by
a majority of the vote of the stock
holders of the stock outstanding
at the time of a meeting duly
called for the purpose, the voting
rights of stock shareholders to,
be as hereinabove defined, the
shareholders to have such rights
or options to purchase such in
creased shares on such terms and
at such times as may be duly
fixed by a nmajority vote of such
shareholders at said meeting.
8. Applicants pray that the lia
bility of stockholders in said cor
poration be confined to the un
paid purchase price of the stock
' suscribed to be each. -

rights and priviieges herein set

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
Sealed bids will be received by
the Board of Commissioners of
Roads and Revenue for Clarke
County, Georgia, at its office in
the Court House at Athens,
Georgia, until ten o'clock A. M,
Eastern Standard Time, Saturday,
September 10, 1949, for the con
struction of a one story building
approximately 37 feet wide and
62 feet long. The building is to be
used as a State Patrol Barracks
and will be of brick veneer on
wood frame, with composition
roof, plastered walls and hard
wood floors. 4
Drawings and specifications
will be available at the office of
the County Engineer at the Court
House for $5.00 per set. Any bid
der, upon returning the pians and
specifications in good condition
before the time of opening the
bids, will be refunded $5.00 per
set,
A corporate bond, for the faith
ful performance of the contract
and the payment in full of all
just claims for labor and mate
rials used in the construction, in
the sum double the contract will
be required of the successful
bidder. i
All bids must be accompanied
by a certified check or bid bogd
in an amount not less than 5% of
the base bid. No bid may be with~
drawn after the scheduled clos
ing time for the receipt of bids
for a period of thirty days.
The work under the contract
must commence within ten days
after the contract is executed, and
the work shall be completed in
90 calendar days.
The County of Clrake shall
mak~ payment on account of the
contract as provided therein, as
follows: On or before the tenth
day of each month ninety per
cent of the value, based on con-|
tract prices of labor and materials
incorporated in the worlk, and of
materials suitably stored at the
site, up to the first of that month,
as estimated and certified by the
County Engineer, less the aggre
gate of previous payments; and
upon substantial completion of
the entire work a sum sufficient
to increase the total payments to
ninety-five percent of the con
tract price.
Final payment shall be due
thirty days after substantial com
pletion of the work, provided the
work be then fully completed and
the contract fully perfornred.
The undersigned reserves the
right to reject any and all bids
and to waive informaltities.

“It happened in Chicago a year

sen yesterday in a nip-and-tuck
race with three other candidates,
The job pays $15,000 annually and
carries with it a $35..00 expense
allowance.
Philadelphia resumed quiet nor
maley today after four days of
serious discussion, speechmaking
politicking and parading that
marked the Legion’s 31st national
convention.
In November the Legion’s na
tional executive committee will
decide where the 32nd conclave
will be. Los Angeles, Boston and
New York are bidding so the site.

dealership in a SIOO,OOO car safety
contest sponsored by the Ford
Division, Ford Motor Company.
Mr. Trussell is one of 6,400
Ford dealers throughout the na
tion who has entered his dealer
ship in the contest during Sep
tember and October.
Seven hundred prizes totaling
SIOO,OOO will be awarded winners
of the safety contest. The prizes
are 25 new Fords including five
Ford trucks; 25 SI,OOO U, S. Sav
ings Bonds, 100 SIOO bonds; 200
SSO Bonds, and 350 $25 Bonds.
The contest has the support of
the National Safety Council, the
Inter-Industry Highway Safety
Committee and other safety or
ganizations.
Ned H. Dearborn, president of
the National Safety Council, in a
letter to L. D. Crusoe, vice-pres
ident and general nranager of the
Ford Division, said:
“Certainly e v er y motorist
should check and double check
the mechanical condition of his
car for safety’s sake, and you at

throughout the country.
“I am sure that this free check
up and safety contest, with its
attractive prizes, will make Am
ericans more safety conscious—it

Handicap Tournament
Set For Country Club
A 36-hole, handicap tournament will be held at the
Atheris Country Club over the Labor Day week-end, it has
been annpunced by C. N. (Kotch) Mell, member of the
tourney committee.
. Already 80 golférs have enter
} ed the affair, which will be played
over four days. Unliké the tourn
amen tout at the Club on July 4,
there will be no official afarting in
this one. Entries may play the 36
' holes any time over the foun-day
period.
Prizes will be awarded to she
first three winners, plus for closest:
on the flag holes, which will be
eight ana seventeen. The handi-
tion include Mrs. H. L. Cornelizon,
Mrs. Quinton Lumpkin, Mrs. L.
M. Leathers, Mrs. John J. Wilkins,
and Miss Ann Harris. Addition
of the new members brings the
total membership to 61 women
golfers.
Some of the ladies show promise
of playing good golf, according to
association members. Mrs. Ralph
Ardan scored a 62 her first time
around the first nine, and others
have turned in some good Scores.
