Science Produces Long-Sought

E Hospital Tests Prove Remarkable Effec

¥ Combinea With Vitamins. Ninety-seven
Per Cent of Patients Benefited.
While man has not yet accam=-

ing on a few super-nourishing
tablets per day, science has now
made a long stride in that direc
tion by producing a new strength
ering tablet to build you up. It
has proved its effectiveness in
ninety-seven per cent of hospital
tested cases.
The new tonic tablet is intended
for weakened, nervous, rundown
men and women who need a sim
ple and effective method of build
ing up their strength, energy, and
vitality.
The new preparation is a com
bination of a non-upsetting form
pf iron and some of the more inm
portant vitamins, and has been
given the name of Talbo Tonic
Tablets.
The form of iron used in Talbo,
while difficult and expensive to
groduce, is more easily absorbed
y the system and has none of
?ae upsetting or constipating es-
Tects of the ordinary forms of
fron. It was recently combinedi
with certain of the more import
ant vitaming and given rigid hos
pital tests on patients in weaken
ed, rundown condition. |
The results were even beyond
expectations. Ninety-seven per

The government will be working |
against time in its effort to get
the steel strike settled. Contracts
of a half-million steelworkers in

the basic product for hundreds of
articles—began expiring Saturday.
They’ll continue to run out through
mid-December.

That is the exact recommenda

Many companies not only are

150 DELEGATES ATTENDING
Annual Extension Service
Confab Is In Session Here
With more than 150 county and
home demonstration agents from
north and northeast Georgia
counties in attendance, the annual
Extension Service district con
ference is meeting here through
Wednesday. Meetings are being
held in Dawson Hall on the Uni
versity campus.
District agents for the Exten
sion Service in this area are in
charge. These include Miss Alice
Drake, Miss Melba Sparks, L. C.
Westbrook and T. L. McMullan,
all of Athens. .
Theme for the three day meet
ing, which began yesterday aft
ernoon, is “New Developments in
Agriculture.” Speakers from a
number of agricultural agencies
and organizations are to appear
on the program,
Dean and Director Harry L.
Brown of the College of Agricul
ture and Walter S. Brown, direc~
tor of the Agricultural Extension
Service in this state, opened the
meeting. Speakers during the aft
ernoon included Kenneth Trea
nor, economist for the Extension
Service, Athens; R. L. Vansant,
state director of the Farmers
Home Administration, Atlanta;
Miss L ucile Higgenbotham,
health specialist, Athens; and J.
W. Fanning, Extension econo
mist, Athens.
Treanor told the group of new
farm legislation and how it will
influence farm income. He called
special attention to changes that
will be necessary in cotton and
peanut acreages.
Farm Loans
Vansant cited the success of the
farm ownership loan program
which is being carried on by the
Farmers Home Administration.
He said that of 5,600 farm loans
made since the middle 1930’s
more than 1,500 have already
been paid in full although the
farm faunrvilies had 40 years in
whith to complete " payments.
More than 240 farm families in
the state paid these loans in full
in 1948 alone, he said. He also
called attention to the fine record
of payment with farm production
loans in Georgia. Hep, said that
500,000 of these had been made
since the beginning of the pro
gram in 1935 and that rate of
payment had been very satisfac
tory.
Vansant stressed the fact that
the loans and their repayment
werre only a small part of the
good that had been done. He
pointed out that the fine thing
about the program is the develop
ment of new farm owners and
the improvement of farm honres
