From My
'Potpourri Jar
A tall well-shaped cedar tree
stands on the lawn of Mr. and Mrs.
Guy Malcom on Highland Terrace.
Its graceful, dark green boughs
are a pleasing sight all the year
round, and at Christmas time the
decoration of colored lights reach
ing to its tip-top gives additional
interest and brilliance. This tree
is like other trees in kind and
shape — yet it is different. It
abounds in interest and history.
It is a growing, living symbol of
the love, and joy, and hopes two
grandparents have for their grand
children. And, too, it is a tree
which has been watched over and
nurtured—hoping ky this express=
ion of core to inspire in children
& feeling of protection for all trees
and growing things.
On Christmas Day, 1947, Mr.
and Mrs. Guy Malcom dedicated
this cedar to their first grandchild,
Rosemary Carmen Malcom, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrvs. Darrell Mal
com (Carmen Calderon) of Green
ville, S. C. and to all future grand
children. The impressive and
beautiful service was conducted
by Dr. J. C. Wilkinson, and a
wooden plaque bearing the name
Rosemary was placed among the
glittering lights encircling it. This
year another plaque will be added,
with the name of their second
grandchild, Melinda, the nine
month-old daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Billy Malcom (Adeline Gal
lahar) of Anniston, Ala. -
Mr. and Mrs. Malcom have
found no where a tree dedicated
to a living person or one set apart

And they mean so many lovely things to everyone on your Christmas list. For your college daughter,
a breath-takingly beautiful ball gown . . . for father, a handsome lounging robe, . . . for the dearest one
of all, a really luxurious fur scarf. It's the ideal present for ‘friends and family whose tastes, whose
sixes, whose favorite colors you do not know.

as a tribute to one.
It was several years ago—eight
years in fact—that a friend of Mr.
Malcom gave him this tiny cedar
—and without a thought in mind
as to its future use he nursed it
assiduously, and scon his pride
in it was shared by his family.
Last year he conceived the idea
of its dedication to be treasured
always by his grandchildren and
to bear their names—a growing
symbol to increase in loving in
