Profit Farming
HIWASSEE, Ga.—Land and life
can perform miracles, Raymond!
M.Kimsey, Towns County, has
learned. He is making two blades
of grass where none grew before,
When the Chatuge reservoir was
built in the early 1940’s to supply
additional power for winning the
war Mr. Kimsey’s farm was flood
ed out an dhe and his family had
to find a new home. To help make
these readjustments the Georgia
Extension Service and Tennessee
Valley Authority set him up as a
test-demonstration farmer, furn
ishing help in plnaning and some
phosphatic fertilizer. He has
learned that the key to agricul
tural success is soil fertility.
On the worn-out farm where he
located, he began in a. small way |
to change its productivity, proving
for himself and his neighbors that |
ample quantities of minerals will
make soil produce higher, more
profitable crop yields. |
