STATE COTTON IMPROVEMENT
GROUP SETS 1950 PROGRAM
Georgia's newly formed State
Cotton Improvement Committee
announces a program today calling
attention to “How to Produce Cot
ton Profitably in 1950.”

of the improvement committee,
Ilists the following 12 points in the
program:
1. Select soil that experience has
shown will, under average condi
tions, produce a bale per acre. Se
lect land where cotton will grow
off fast and fruit early.
2. Plant varieties proved to be
early, disease resistant, high yield
ing and that have a staple length
of one inch to 1 1-16 inches.
3. Plant only one variety to a gin
(Ornmunity. .
4, Plant delinted and f{reated
seed of high germination.
5. Fertilization: Use liberal

The chicken-stew, stage-show,
and cake-walk, sponsored by the
P.T. A. last Friday evening, was
a success. A large crowd was in
attendance and the school realized
a substantial sam in the proceeds.
This assures the installation of
venetion blinds on the windows,
and the balancé collected will be
ear-marked as the initial gymna
nium fund. We are urgently in
need of a gym, and the going to
start a drive to get the building
started.
