THE BANNER-HERALD, ATHENS, GEORGIA
Mrs. Carl Tibbetts 1
Heads Ninth ¥
District Federation
The Gainesville Daily Times re
cently carried an interesting write
up on Mrs. Carl Tibbetts, who is
the daughter-in-law of Mr. and
Mrs. Jahn Tibbetts of Athens.
“Mrs. Tibbetts is one of the
youngest women to hold the pres
idency of the Women's Missionary
‘Society of the First Baptist Church
in Gainesville and her background
of speech training, theater roles,
church and club work makes her
perfect in the role of president.
Mrs. Tibbetts was also recently
installed as president of the Ninth
District Georgia Federated Clubs
and will preside at the two annual
district meetings, will be an “on
demand speaker” for any club in
her district that needs a speaker
or needs to install officers.
Add to these two big jobs her
PTA work, the League of Women
Voters, the Daughters of 1812, the
DAR, the Fine Arts Ctudy Club the
American Legion Auxiliary, the
Brenau Alumnae Association, the
Theater Guild, a group of speech
pupils, two children of her own,
and you have the picture of a
very busy woman. But she still
finds time to help her husband
start a new laundry business, to
take more speech Jlessons at Bre
nau, and to help with Brenau's
Cushman Club plays. '
Mrs. Tibbets says that her whole
family backs her up in all of her
activities. Her husband is quite
interested in the Theater Guild,
too, and is past president of the
group. Her mother, Mrs. J. F.
Overby, who makes her home
with the Tibbetts, keeps the home
fires burning while Mrs. Tibbetts
is busy with her play-acting and
speech making, and the two chil
dren think it’s all wonderful,
Club, church and home, the three
things that are stressed in Fed
erated club work, are three things
that are of utmost importance to
ers. Tibbetts. But this talented
actress has added a fourth to these
—and that is the Theater, whith is
her hobby.”
