Georgian Dies
In Raleigh
RALEIGH, N. C. — (AP) — A
young Georgian died in the gas
chamber yesterday for slaying his
mistress’ husband. The husband
was buried alive,
John Robert (Jack) Bridges, 24,
was convicted of the slaying in
February 1949, of Keston Norris
Privette, 22, a Raleigh mechanic.
Bridges roomed at the Privette
home.
Privette’s body was found in a
shallow grave at his home. Evi
dence showed he had been lured
to the spot, struck with a rifle butt
and buried alive.
After the slaying, Bridges took
Mrs, Privette, then 20, and her
two children to Georgia. There,
she testified, she learned of her
husband’s death and informed of
ficers,
Mrs. Privette, an attractive bru
nette, testified that she and
Bridges long had been intimate.
She later was placed on proba
