RUBY KEELER DANCES AGAIN;
SHE'S DUE TO MAKE A MOVIE
By ERSKINE JOHNSON
NEA Staff Correspondent
HOLLYWOOD—(NEA )— Movie
bids are swirling around Ruby
Keeler's dancing feet now that
she’s come out of her 10-year re
tirement. Her next stop after two
weeks on the stage of the Roxy
Theater in New York (opening
May 17) will be a supper club
tour &nd then a Hollywood movie.
It's an unexpected sequel to
“The Jolson Story,” in which she
was portrayed by Evelyn Keys.

Gorgeous movie dolls have
turned Ugly Duckling before but
never with the reckless abandon
of Ella Raines. You positively
will not be able to recognize her
at the outset of “The Secondl
Face.”
There’s a hump on her nose, her
eyes have been moved closer to
gether and there’s a hairpiece on
her forehead which makes her
look like a lame brain. The make~
up job takes exactly an hour.
“And really,” Ella says, “it's de
pressing. I look in the mirror and
scream, ‘Oh, no.” My husband can’t
even stand to look at me.”
Happily, Ella has plastic sur
gery after about two-thirds of the
picture and winds up in the hero’s
arms looking just like Ella Raines.
You'll have to pay to see the make
up wizardry. There will be no
publicity stills.
