CITES MAN'S DEATH CYCLE
NEW YORK-— (AP) —The old
est people now living apparently
do not reach greater ages than the
ancients, says Dr. Edward S. Dee
vey, jr., Yale zoologist, in the Sci
entific American.”
Deevey thinks long life runs in
families, but he believes the
amount of living a man can pack
into a life is about uniform. Those
who live' longer live more slowly
The maximum life span seems to
be about 115 or 120 years, he says.
Parathion and tetraethyl pyro
phosphate sprays have been found
effective against green bug, a pest
damaging wheat, oats and barley.

“OLDEST” MAN PREDICTS
OWN DEATH
RIVERSIDE, Calif. —(AP)— A
black-eyed Indian chief, who
thinks he must be the oldest liv
ing human being, has told his de
scendants to prepare for his death.
No one, including Louis Levi him
self, is certain how old he is. But
several of his grandchildren are
over 65 — and drawing old age
pensions. His children are nearing
the century mark.
The chief, who lives with his
family on the Torres Indian Res
ervation in the nearby Coachella
Valley, recently announced that
he was going to die in one more
year. Records at the Indian agency
office show he was one of the old
est old-timers when tribe mem
bers’ names were first listed 75
years ago.
Experiments are being carried
