Wesleyan Pays
Off Bonds On
Rivoli Grounds
MACON, Ga.,, May 25—(AP)—
Wesleyan College officially owned
her buildings and grounds at
Rivoli today.
The college trustees and officials
held a bond burning ceremony and
dedication yesterday.
The college didn’t have to pay
off the bonds, but President Silas
Johnson said it was a moral obli
gation.
The bonds were legally retired
after a forced sale brought about
half their value in 1935. The col
lege trustees went ahead and
raised $450,000 to pay the old
bondholders, and clear. the name
of the institution morally as well
as legally. Since May 1, $24,000
was raised to meet the obligation.

The League emphasizes at all
times that, as an organization, it
supports no individual candidate.
It has however compiled a record
consisting of personal data, past
voting record on pertinent bills (if
the candidate has already served
as a legislator), and complete an

by the State League office earlier
this month. These records are on
