Courfesy Is Admirable, Men,
But Don't Forget Your Wives
One of the most frequent com
flxlnb I get about husbands is that
hey go out of their way to be
courteous to any woman but their
“"m.
The latest wife to make this
complaint writes: “My husband
will sit and watch me struggle to
move a heavy piece of furniture
without moving a muscle, but he'll
jump out of his chair to light any
other woman’s cigaret.
“It burns me up—and what I'd
like to know is this: Am I expect
ing too much when I think he
should treat me with the same
courtesy he offers other women?
Or are all husbands more or less
guilty’ of this same kind of
thoughtlessness where their wives
are concerned?”
Judging from my mail a number
of husbands make this same mis
take, And a big mistake it is, too.
For women set great store by the
little attentions men give them.
And when a woman sees her hus
band remembering his manners for
any woman but her, she is natural

Try This Test for Husbands
Any husband who has this col
umn handed to him by his wife
' hasn’t any comeback unless he can
get a nearly perfect score on the
following questions:
Do you open car doors for your
wife?
Do you seat her at the dinner
table?
Do you say “Let me do that”
when she starts to move a piece of
furniture or lift something you
would think too heavy for another
woman to manage alone?
Do you light her cigarets when
you are jumping to light those of
a woman guest?
Do you help her when she asks
your help without grumbling?
If you can’t pass that test, your
wife has reason to think you are
lacking in ordinary courtesy. 1
After all, if you’de flunked it be
fore marriage she probably
wouldn’t have rated you as a gen
tleman. :

Agent Advises
Cool Temperature
For Egg Storage
With summer weather already
here, County Agent D. L. Branyon
urged Clarke country farmers to
take good care of eggs.
“Heat causes eggs to lose quali
ty fore then any other one
thing,” Mr. Branyon warned. “The
normal body temperature of a lay
ing hen is 107 degrees and a newly
laid egg holds considerable heat.
Then when the egg is left in the
| nest in a hot house, and with more
| hens setting on it, it starts to lose
‘quality fast.”
Get eggs out of the nest at least
twice a day, the agent suggests,
and three times a day is better.
He continues that it is advisable
to collect them in a wire basket
so they can cool fast and to hold
them in the basket overnight. In
this way the eggs are sure to cool
before they are packed.
“Eggs ought to be kept below
65 degrees temperature until they
are put on the stove in somebody’s
kitchen,” Mr. Branyon empha-
