Miss Kitty Trussell
Honored At Parfy
On June Thirfeenth
Miss Kitty Trussell, whose en
gagement to Mr. H, Grady Wilson,
jr., of Tampa, Fla., which was an
pounced today, was honored at a
luncheon on Tuesday, June 13th,
The hostess was Mrs, Hubert
Owens.
A handsonre arrangement of
lilies was used on the luncheon
able where covers were placed
or twelve guests, close friends of
viiss Frussell, who included
Miss Betty Wood, bride-elect of

The Junior Girls’ Auxiliary of
the Winterville Bagi;ist Church
a 8 completed its st year of
wgenization with Barbara Pruitt,
oresident; Elizabeth Hampton,
vice-president; Jackie Looney,
secretary; and Bitsie Shepherd,
[yeasurer.
The number on roll increased
tyom three at the first meeting on
June 28, 1949, to 26 members at
the last meeting in May.
The meetings were held on Fri
day of each week at the home of
the Counselor, Mrs. Ben Eubanks,
Programs included “Forward
Steps,” “The World Comrades,”
“Stewardship,” and “Studies of
ihe Old Testament.” During the
year eight mission books were
read by the members.
Since January Ist the grls have
rxd 4,810 chapters of the Bible.

WMU treasurer for missions.
There have been 264 visits made
oy the girls and their geounselor in

present the members are engaged
in a study of Baptist Beliefs and
Doctrines.

er to attend the Sarepta Camp

Sarepta Camp, end Elizabeth
Hampton Klans to be crowned
Queen in her Forward Steps.
During the spring the Junior
Girls had several picnics, includ
ng one for the Junior Royal Am=
»assadors, and another for the In
termediate G. A’s.
The girls who are not planning
to %o to camp will attend the G.
A, Rally to be held the last day of
camp and all of them will give a
15~minute demonstration of the
iype weekly meotl(x:fls they have.
Of the girls on roll eleven were
already members of the church
and since January Ist eight others
have joined the church.
The extra curriculum activities
include baby care, sewing, cook
ing, glass etching and fxelping
with the Sunbeamg, The next ac
tivity will be stationery stencil
ing.

Landscape Exhibit
Now On Display
Placed on display in the exhibi
tion gallery at the Landscape
Architecture Building yesterday
was a Landscare Exchange prob
lem representing student work
from six different landscape
schools. Fifteen solutions for a
Neighborhood Fark-School includ
ing one executed by James J.
Hamby, a University of Georgia
student, are included. Other col
leges represented in the exhibit are
University of Illinois, lowa State
College, Ohio State University,
Massachusetts ~University and
Texas A. and M. :
The University’s Landscape
Architecture Department has been
a member of the Landscape Ex
change for the past four years, ac=-
cording to Hubert B. Owens, Head
of the Department. The leading
Landscape Schools throughout the
nation participate in a program,
whereby the Junior and Senior
students take the same problem
during. a stipulated period of gime.
They are all sent to a central gmint
where they are judged. The best
solutions are then circulated as a
traveling exhibit. The Neighbor
hood Park-School Froblem which
will be on display for this coming
week was judged at the University
of California.

Mrs. Flanigen entertained at a re
ception in the garden at their
home in East Lake. Miss Claire
Kemper kept the bride’s pook. '
Mrs. Scott is the niece of Miss
Jean Flanigen and Mr. and Mrs.
Hal Heckman of Athens. On Tues
day before her marriage Mrs.
Heckman and Miss Jean Flanigen
had a party for her here in Ath
ens. The guests included some of
her close friends amonf whom was
Mrs. Hugh Deen, the former Miss
Martha Ecker, whose wedding was
a recent event on Friday, June 9th,

Hampshire with a B. S. degree in
Civil Engineering, and is new ¢con-"
nected with the South Atlantie Di
vision Office of the U. 8. Corps
of Engineers. Before joining the
Corps of Engineers he was with
the Navy Department in New
York City.
