The flower girl will be Judy Lee
walker, of Atlanta, niece of the
sroom. The bride will be given in
marriage by her father, William
Goode Sailers.
Following the ceremony Mr. and
Mrs. W. G. Sailers will entertain
at a reception at the Bamboo
Room of the Y. W. C. A.

Mr. and Mrs. Guy G. Hardman,
of Hull, Ga., announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Grace
Hardman Browning, to Cpl. Will
iam A. Conrad, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Pierce W. Conrad, of
Newcoyrerstown, Ohio.
The bride-elect graduated from
Danielsville High School and at
present is employed at the Big
Winterville Baptist

Homecoming July
A Homecoming is being planned
for the Winterville Baptist Church
on Sunday, July 9. The plan is to
have as many members, former
members, and friends of the
church as possible to attend this
service,
The purpose of the Homecoming
is to open the campaign for the
Building Fund of the proposed
Educational Building, and other
church improvements. The Educa
tional Building is to be a brick
structure of two stories and a
basement with kitchen and ban
quet facilities. The building will
meet all specifications and re
quirements for an approved de
parimentalized Sunday School.
The program begins with ‘Sun
day School at 10:00 a. m. The
church is looking forward to a
record attendance which will in
dicate the people’s interest in this
undertaking. After a shortened
session of the Sunday School, the
main program will begin, which
includes worship, short talks, rec
ognition of former members, and
pastors, & brief history of the
church, and a message by Dr. T.
W. Tippett, secretary of Sunday
School work in Georgia. The spe
cial offering and pledges will be
received after Dr. Tippett’s ad
dress, Dinner will be served picnic
style on the grounds. Everyone at
tending is asked to bring his fam
ily and a basket lunch.

shower by Mrs. Charles S. Jacobs
and Miss Lois Durling, at the
home of Miss Durling, in Decatur,
Ga.
On June Ist. Mrs. Jack W.
Fleming, of Chamblee and For
syth, Ga., had a miscellaneous
shower at her home in Chamblee
for Miss Sailers.
Misses Dorothy Doss, Claire Wil
liamson and Gladys Weaver hon
ored the bride-elect with a linen
shower on June sth., at their
home in Atlanta, Ga.
Miss Emily Pert of Atlanta and
Athens gave a party for the bride
to-be and her azitendants on June
29th, at her home in Decatur, Ga.
On Saturday, July Ist, Miss Jane
Miller entertained at a luncheon
for Miss Sailers at her home on
Tuxedo Avenue, in Atlanta, Ga.
On Friday evening, July T7th,
Mrs. Otis L. Bonner and Miss Jul
iette Bonner will honor the Sail
ers-Walker wedding attendants
and out-of-town guests at a din
ner before the rehearsal.
On Saturday, July Bth., the day
of the wedding, Mrs. Grover C.
Moon, and Mrs. Edward O.
Mullins, of Augusta, Ga. will com
pliment the wedding party and
out-of-town guests at a luncheon.
Bridesmaids Luncheon
On Wednesday, July sth, Miss
Sailers will entertain her brides
maids at a luncheon to be given
in Davison’s private dining room.
The bride elect will present each
attendant with an individual gift
of earrings.

Cpl. Conrad graduated from
Newcomerstown High School. He
served two years with the Navy,
entering the service in 1942. At
present he is with the 82nd Air
bourne Division and stationed at
Fort Bragg, N. C.
Wedding plans are to be an
nounced in the near future.

from each Sunday School -class;
also a short memorial service and
songs.

Honors Mrs.
Howard Brandon
Miss Carroll Hart entertained on
Saturday afternoon for her sister,
Mrs. Howard Brandon, at the
home of Mrs. Hattie S. Aiken on
West View Drive.
This is the first of a series of
infornmral parties complimenting
Mrs. Brandon, the honors on this
occasion being shared by her
young daughter, Carroll, and baby
son, Howard.
Miss Hart “was assisted in ex
tending courtesies by Mrs. Aiken,
Mrs. Brandon has been in the
states for several months, and will
join her husband in New Delhi,
India, in the early fall. Mr. Bran
don is on a three-year assignment
at the American embassy there.
Invited to meet Mrs. Brandon
were Mesdames Albert Saye, Ed
win Fortson, William Pollard, Tom
Dover, Guy W. Smith and Jimmie
Malloy; Misses Betsy Powell, Bet

MISS EVELYN ELIZABETH ORR '
Miss Evelyn Elizabeth Orr To
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Willianr Orr announce the engagement of l
their daughter, Miss Evelyn Elizabeth Orr, to Sam Aubrey Lever,
son of Mr. and Mrs Sam Jones Lever, of Augusta. The marriage
will be solemnized August 26 at the Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Miss Orr’s mother is the former Miss Mary Annie Brice, of
Cummings, Ga. The bride-elect was graduated from the University
High School and attended Bessie Tift College. She received her
B. S. degree in Home Economics in June from the University of
Georgia, and was a member of Phi Upsilon Omiicron honor so
ciety.
Mr, Lever’s mother is the former Miss Daisy Pearl Hamilton of
Thomson, Ga. He was graduated from Aiken High School, Aiken,
S. C,, and attended Brewton-Parker Junior College. He will re- |
ceive his B. S. degree in Elementary Education from the Univer=
sity of Georgia in August. .
Mrs. Hazel Ware And Mr. Wirth
Wed On June Twenty - Seventh
Mrs. Hazel Tyson Ware was
united in marriage to Mr. Ernest'
Wirth at her home in Franklin
Springs, Georgia, Friday evening,
June twenty-third, before a small
gathering ol close friends and
members of the family. The Rev.
Albert Shealey performed the
ceremony before an improvised al
tar branched on either side with
lighted candles.
The home was beautifully dec
orated with fern and gardenias.
Mr. John W, Craft of Montclair,
N. J. and Miss Merritt Ware of
Toccoa, Georgia rendered a pro
gram aof nuptial music preceeding
the ceremony. Mr. Craft playe

were being lighted afterwhich Miss
Ware sang “O, Promise Me” andl
“Because”.
The bride was gowned in an
ankle length pink marquisette
dress made along princess lines,
She wore hat and mittens to
‘match, and carried a white prayer
book topped with a purple
throated orchid. Her only at
tendant was her daughter, little
Miss Frankie Ware, who was jun
ior bridesmaid. Her dress was pink
organdy patterned like the bride’s.
She carried a nosegay of daises

with a garland of daises in her
hair.
The bride and groom entered to
gether to the Lohengrin’s Wedding
March. At the conclusion of the
prayer Miss Ware sang “Seal Us
O Holy Spirit”.
The bride 1s the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Nathan Tyson of Carey,
N. C. She graduated from the
Carey High School and the Uni
versity of Georgia, She 1s a mem
ber of the Royston Public Schools.
The groom is the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Wirth of New
castle, England. He is a graduate
of the Newcastle High School and
the University of Georgia. He has
been a Professor in Emmanuel
College for a number of years.
For traveling Mrs, Wirth chose
a suit of deep rose gabardine with
white assessories. Her flowers
were orchids. After a short wed
ding trip Mr. and Mrs. Wirth will
be at home to their friends in
Franklin Springs, Georgia.

Miss Lois Irvin pecame the bride
of Mr. Charlie Bridges at an im
pressive double ring ceremony on
June 30, at the home of the Rev.
T. L. Christian in Danielsville, The
Rev. Christian officiated.
Mr. Jimmy Underwood, of Ath
ens served as best man.
Mrs. S. B. Freeman, sister of the
bride, was the marton-of-honor
and the bride’s only attendant. She
wore an aqua taffeta dress with
white accessories and American
Beauty roses.

- Miss Joan Elder, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Elder of
Bishop, became the bride of Will
Erwin Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Lee of Bishop, at a double
ring ceremony which took place
at Bishop Baptist Church Sunday,
June 15, at 4:30, with Rev. Leo
Burgess, pastor officiating. The
ceremony was performed before
an altar of white gladiolas against
a green background flanked on
each side by candlebra.
The bride was lovely in a dress
of white sheer organdy with blue
trim and white accessories. She
carried a bouquet of white garde
nias on a white satin covered
Bible belonging to a friend. Her
only ornament was a pin worn by
her grandmother.
Mrs. Woodrow Ash was her sis
ter’s matron of honor. She wore a
dress of light blue organdy, with

the mountains, the couple will be

American Legion
Auxiliary To
Hold Installation
The Allen R. Fleming, jr. Unit
American Legion Auxiliary will
install officers for the year 1950-
51 at a joint installation service
with the Legion on Thursday, July
6 and 8 p. m.
The meeting will be held at the
Legion Log Cabin on Lumpkin
Street. D. Weaver Bridges and
Mrs. J. M. Lewis will head the or
ganization for the coming year.
Plans for the year’s work will
be made and committee chairmen
named. All Auxiliary members are
invited to the meieting.
