EXCAVATION REVEALS
PRE-CHRISTIAN TOWN I
NEW DELHI — (AP) — An
ancient town believed to have’
flourished centuries before the |
Christian era has been discovered
in excavations conducted by the
government of India archaeologi~
cal department 15 miles from New
Delhi. The excavation was made
on a mound covering half a square
mile that rises from the plain near
the village of Tilpat, south of the
capital.
B. B. Lal, superintendent of the I
project, describes the discovery as
one of the most important ever
made in Indian archaeological ex
plorations. Several large ancient
buildings have been discovered in
the probing excavations and more
archaelogical wealth is expected
to be found below the sub-soil
water level.
An animal is the perfect “Ma
chine” for harvesting grass. Pas
tures are converted into feed with
no labor and at little cost. Agri
cultural experts say grass silage
and good quality hay are next
best to pasture in feeding value.
