Rites For Mrs.
W. W. Matthews
\Mre. W. W. Matthews, native of
Madison county and one of that
countv’s best known and well
loved residents, died in a Mariet
ta hospital Friday morning at
10:30 o’'clock. She was 7 years
of age and had been seriously ill
for six weeks.
Funeral services will be con
ducted from Colbert Baptist
Church today at 12:15, Rev. A. E.
Logan officiating. Pall-bearers, ail
grandsens of Mrs., Matthews, are
Billy Matthews, Eldrege Bray,
Sam Bullock, Duke Lord, Ezra
Matthews and Ralph Matthews.
Surviving Mrs. Matthews are
four daughters, Mrs. Shafe King,
Danielsville, Mrs. Tennie Edwards,
Jacksonville, Mrs. L. J. Glisson,
Jacksonville, and Mrs. N. M.
Young, Matietta; ten sons, Wes
ley Matthews, Birmingham,
Dewey Matthews, ' Birmingham,
Grealey Matthews, Dallas, Texas,
R. H. Matthews, West Palm Beach,
Fla., Frank Matthews, Charleston,
S. C,, Loyvd Bray, Colbert, Porter
Bray, West Palm Beach, Horace
Matthews, Hull, McCoy Matthews,
Chester, S. C,, and Olen B. Matth
ews, Athens; and one sister, Mrs.
Fannie Borroughs, Comer.
Mrs. Matthews before her mar
riage was Susan Amanda Thomp-~
son of Madison county. A lifelong
resident of near Colbert, she was
2 devoted member of her church
and took an active part in all its
activities until declining health
curtailed such activity. She had
many friends who will be sadden
ed to learn of her death.

morning at 11 o’clock and each
evening at 8 o’clock. Mr. James

Ouida C. Collier, will direct the
song service. Every one is most

BALTIMORE — (AP) — An in
secticice which its makers say is
the first to protect grain from in
sects and yet be harmless to man
has been developed here. U. S. In
dustrial Chemicals, Ine., which has
been developing the insecticide for
four years, said wheat farmers are
now losing up to 45 cents a bushel
on their crops because of insect
damage.
The new development is intend
ed to prevent insects from invad
ing stored grain. It's not recom
men’ed for treatment of grain al
teady heavily infested. The com
bany said the insecticide is not
dangerfus to humans or animals
en when used in quantities far
txceeding those recommended.
