Misses Hancock
Tuckston Weslevan Service
Guild met Tuestay night at 8
o'clock, with Misses Bertha and
Dyeia Hancock.
The meeting was called to order
by “the president, Mrs, Lawrence
Prickett. “Have Thine Own Way,
Lord” was used as the opening
hymm and the group was led in
prayer by Miss Bertha Hancock.
The worship service was led
by Miss Dyce rancock, spiritual
iife chairman. The subject of the
worshrp service was "The Pillars
of the Earth.” The scripture used
was Psalm 95:1-7. She closed her
remarks with prayer.
Mrs. Jack Daniel, program
chairman, presented Mrs. Ruth
Aaron from Oconee Street Guild,
w_hq‘_gg»ve_ an _inspAirAingr talk on
“Faith.” Mrs. Daniel closed this
part of the program with prayer.
A period of business was then
held, during which time the min
uates of the last meeting were
read, treasurer’s report given, and
dues collected.
“My Hope Is Built” was then
sung and the meeting closed with
‘he group repeating the Lord's
T’rfier.

during the social half-hour. .
Fourteen members and two vis
itors were present.
September meeting will be at
the home of Mrs. Larwence Prick
ett and Mrs. Jim Langford will
be co-hostess.

The Life Agency Cashier’s As
sociation of Athens held their reg
ular monthly meeting Tuesday
evening, August 8 at 6:30 o’clock
2t the home of Miss Mary Ruff.
The meeting was in the form of
a social affair. A picnic in the
back yard, including a delicious
vienic lunch, was enjoyed by all
members present fnd guests. In
voation by Mr, ack Farrar, a
guest of the evening.
After the picnic lunch, the

given by twelve teen-age girls,

‘under the leadership of Mrs. Lois
Mathers and Miss Louise Settle.
The topic “Are You On a Diet?”
was proven to be a very informa
tive religious discussion carried on
by Frances Tucker, Frances Ga
briel, Louise Settle, Claudia Wilk~
ens, Patsy Moats, Rebecca Harde
man, Betty Loony, Betty Gabrial,
Mary Carney, Darlene Tucker,
Becky Smith, and M#fs. Louis
Mathews. The songs were well
chosen for the topic.

Bride-Elect,
Is Entertained
Mrs. Hugh Brice entertained at
her home in Gainesville on Satur
day afternoon, August 6, honoring
her niece, Miss Evelyn Orr of Ath
ens, whose marriage to Mr, Sam
Lever of Augusta will take place
on August 26.
The Brice home was beautiful
ly decorated in late summer flow
ers, the dining room and refresh
ments table featuring attractive
arrangements of all white flowers,
Following spirited contests the
honoree was presented gifts of
china and crystal, after which
dainty sandwiches, confections
‘and punch were gerved by the
hostess.
The geusts included relatives of
the bride, and friends of her moth
er, the former Miss Annie Brice
of Gainesville.
