Wife Must Share Thoughts
If She's To Share Man's Life
©" What does a wife mean when
.she says, “My husband never real
ly talks to me any more.” |
Judging from the letters I re
ceive from wives who make that‘
Jlonely complaint, the wives feel
that their husbands no longer
share their ideas and plans and
hopes. The only kind of conversa
tion they have concern the details
of daily living. There is no real
exchange of ideas.
When a man stops sharing his‘
idas, his hopes and fears, his new
found econvictions with his wife he
is actually shutting her out of his
life, even though he continues to
spend all of his leisure time with
‘her, ‘
For when two persons fall in |
fove, that is one of the greatest
wonders, the finding of someone
they ean really talk to about things |
‘hat matter most, confident that |
they will be understood and not
criticized or laughed at.
It is a fundamental part of
co%tship and of early marriage. |
~ Women rightly feel that itl
should last as a permanent foun

dation for marriage.
Why Doesn’t It Last?
Why so many men feel they
don’t need to keep on with this
sharing of ideas after they have
been married a while is hard to
say.
Perhaps they come to depend on
business associates and men
friends for this kind of compan
ionship, and so don’t need to find
it at home,
But women need it from. their
husbands. And the woman who
says, “My husband never really
talks to me any more,” is a lonely
woman who feels that she has been
-cheated.
In a way she has. For a woman
can’t really share a man’s life if
she isn’t allowed to share his
thoughts or the things that are
really important to him.
The Universities of Washington
and California have tangled 35
times on the football field and each
has 16 wins to show for it. Three
games ended in ties.
