Fourth Grade
We had a nice time last week
making Valentines after we had
finished our work. Ech one’ made
a big envelope for his Valentines:
These were put on the bulletin
board to make our post office. We
gave our teacher a lovely box of
candy and a stapler as a surprise
for her Valentine.
Thursday was Washington’s
birthday. We studled many pretty
pictures about his life. We learn

his men.
Spring -will soon be here, and
we will be so glad when all the
flowers and birds and many other
spring things come.
The girls enjoy jumping rope on
clear days when we can go out for
recess. On rainy days we play
“Ima Whiz,” an arithmetic game.
We think it is fun.
In our science we are studying
about the sun, moon, stars, con
stellations, and planets. We have
found out that the sun gives us
light and heat, and that the moon
reflects light from the sun. Jupiter
is the largest planet and Venus is
the brightest. Saturn is different
from all the others. It has rings
around it. Miss Bird has read us
sttc’)ries about the different plan
ets.
Carlson Chambliss, who has
read many books about the solar
system, has told us many inter
esting stories.
We are now in Switzerland on
our Imaginary journey, We have

our newspaper clippings that they
have had some avalanches recent

Becky Birchmore’s father’s visit to
Switzerland. Iy was very interest

We have made a lendin library

girls have brought books from
home for us to read.
We hwuve made a spelling note

our misspelled words. We are try

be back with us soon.
