His award, based on personality,
talent, and academic record, was
a set of Bailey’s Cyclopedias. The
volumes were presented to him at

tecture Day Saturday.

IT'S MAY, HEY?—Residents of Salt Lake City, Utah, needed
to recheck their calendars to assure them it wasn’t January. Tons
of wet, clinging snow descended on the city, ripping down tree
branches and shrubs with its weight. Freezing weather threaf- |

this year. According to Robert
Harmon, Savannah, club president,
the award will be made annually.
A field training school in Amer
ican archaelogy will be offered by
the University of Georgia this
summer, i
faught by Dr. A. R. Kelly, head
of the University’s anthropology
and archaelogy department, the
course will be offered from July 1
through August 16 with field
headquarters at Corra Harris
Lodge north of Cartersville.
Ten hours college credit will be
given for the course. It will deal |
principally with the archaelogy of
the eastern United States and will
include field and laboratory work.
According to Dr, Kelly, the pro
gram for the summer includes ex
ploration of limestone caves and a
planned excavation of an exten
sive village area of the Kellogg |
period. |
Applications for the course will |
be accepted at the University i
through June 1.

of America which is being held
this weekend in Chapel Hill, North
Carolina.
“Population, manpower, and
productivity,” as well as “demo
graphic and manpower aspects of
technical assistance plans for un
der-developed areas (President’s
Point Four Program)” are two of
the subjects scheduled to receive
considerable attention at the meet
ing. A distinguished sociologist
and native Georgian, Dr. William
F. Ogburn of the University of
Chicago, will discuss “population
and social change” during the
presidential section of the pro
gram,
