Hallowe'en Festival
To Be Held Friday

The Hallowe’en Festival of the
Winterville High School wili be
gin Friday night, November 2, 8
o'clock. A chicken supper with all
the trimmings will be served un
til 7:30. Adults SI.OO and children
50 cents.
After supper there will be a fish
pond, house of horrors, country
store, movies, rides for small chil
dren and a lot of fun for every
one.
At nine o‘clock the king and
queen will be crowned and this is
to be followed by a floor show
featuring the High School Band
and the Glee Club, Rythm Band,
and humorous presentations by
David Jordan of Crawford.
Everyone is invited to attend.

Mrs. Marguerite Scheid of Chi~
cago, 111, director of Field Serv
ice for the National Congress of
Parents and Teachers, will con
duct a one-day Leadership Train
ing Institute in Elberton at the
Baptist Church, Monday, Novem
ber 5. The meeting is scheduled to
begin at 10:30 a. m. and close at
3:00 p. m.
Every parent-teacher member
and members of the teaching pro
fession in Athens e&nd the sur
rounding area are urged to hear
Mrs. Scheid and benefit from this
outstanding national leader who
will be in Georgia through Nov
ember 16 conducting similar insti
tutes.
In 1948, Mrs. Scheid joined the
National Congress and since that
time she has conducted conferen
ces, training classes, and leader
ship courses in parent-teacher
work, in all the major cities as
well as in most remote sections of
the states. She is considered an
expert in this seryice.
Before joining the staff of the
National Congress, Mrs. Scheid’s
professional work brought her into
close contact with community
problems, she is thoroughly fa
miliar with juvenile courts, boy’s
courts, child labor regulations,
family counseling, child adoptions,
and other related services.
Enthusiastic about the pregram
of the National Congress and tire
less in her efforts to develop good
leaders, Mrs. Scheid looks forward
to this assignment in our state.

To Attend
Ceramic Exhibit
Earl MecCutchen, well-known
ceramist and member of the staff
of the Department of Art, Uni
versity of Georgia, v'ill go to Syra
cuse, New York toaxy. e will
be an honored guest of the Syra
cuse Museum of Fine Arts for the
formal opening of the 16th Na
tional Ceramic Exhibition and
will participate in their program
as a member of the panel.
Mr. McCutchen is represented in
this exhibition with several pieces
of Ceramic work. Entries by Miss
Eulala Amos, another member of
the Art Department staff, were
also accepted by the National Jury.
Both Mr. McCutchen and Miss
Amos served on the Regional Jury
of Selection for this 1951-52 ex
hibit.
A collection of ceramics from
the 15th National Ceramic Exhibi
tion is currently being shown at
the Georgia Museum of Art. This
showing is sponsored jointly by
the Department of Art and the
Georgia Museum of Art.
