The meeting will be held in the
Young Adult Class room at 3:30
p. m. Mrs. O. B. Copeland, pro
gram chairman, will present Dr.
Kirkpatrick. The subject of his ad
dress is “A Fearful Hope.”
Mrs. T. W. Paschall, president,
will preside over the business ses
sion. Members of the W. S. C. S.
are busy planning and working
for the bazaar to be held by the
society during the first week in
December, Mrs. Grady Henson,
chairman, and Mrs. J. E. Wicklif
fe, co-chairman, of the committee
spearheading the work of the
bazaar will make reporis of pro
gress thus far accomplished. Cir
cle leaders and their members
will take part in the discussion of
plans.
All W. S. C. S. member will be
given a cordial welcome by mem
bers of Circle Two and their chair
man, Mrs. Leßoy Broun.

To Observe
Founder's Day
The third annual G. S. C. W.
Founders Day will be observed
by local alumnae with an informal
tea at the home of Mrs. J. C. Rich
ardson, 180 Hampton Court, on
Thursday afternoon, November 8,
during the hours 3:30 to 5:30.
Alumnae of Athens, Clarke
County, and others in the vicinity
who are not participating is a
local celebration are cordially in
vited to attend, and join in the
good fellowship of this occasion.
The committee will telephone all
local alumnae a personal invita
tion, as far as possible. Any alum
nae not so reached are requested
to contact the hostess, Mrs. Rich
ardson, telephone 2155, and in
dicate your acceptance, or notify
a member of her committee if more
convenient, The committee assist
ing are Mrs. Archie Langley, Mrs.
T. L. McMullan, Mrs. R. T. Porter,
Mrs. J. H. Nunnally, Mrs. D. L.
Branyon, and Miss Thema Elliott.
Each guest is requested to wear
an identification card containing
her maiden name, year of gradua
tion, married name and present
address. These cards are to be left
in the card tray as the guest takes
her departure. Guests are asked
to bring scrapebooks and memen
toes of college days. Newcomers
will especially be welcomed.

Bobbin Mill Garden
Club Met With
Mrs. David Roper
The Bobbin Mill Garden Club
held its regular monthly meeting
Wednesday morning at the home
of Mrs. Roper David, with Mrs.
H. B. Upchurch serving as c¢o
hostess.
Mrs. Barrington L. Flanigen,
member of the club, spoke to the
group on one of the most import
ant aids to good gardening, “Build
ing Soil By Composting.” Mrs.
Flanigen stated that homemade
compost is the most valuable as
it can be had easily and economi
cally. “The gardener begins with
a layer of leaves and to this he
adds a layer of animal (Manuer,
meat, bones, etc), some soil and
sprinkles with a little limestone
Add to heap in this maner all
along, stir often and keep moist.
The microbes at work yield what
plants need for nourishment.”
Mrs. Horace Lund, president,
presided over the business meet
ing. Mrs. James Akins gave the
treasurers report and turned the
kooks over to the new treasurer,
Mrs. Marion Ivy.
The minutes were read by Mrs.
William Wier, secretary, and ap
proved. =
Mrs. John Green, president of
the Ladies Garden Club, showed an
autographed copy of Garden Gate
ways that was published by the
Garden Club of Georgia in 1935~
36, year book edition, that has
been presented recently by Mrs.
T. H. McHatton of the Ladies
Garden Club for their book shelf
of the Garden Council of Athens.
~ The Bobbin Mill Garden Club
voted to endorse a mew garden
club proposed by the Ladies Gar
den Club. «
Plans for the Christmas door
way show were discussed and
pictures of some of the doorways
will be shown at the next meeting
of the ciub.

The Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma
Phi and the Nu Phi Mu Chapter
had a Hallowe’en party on Wed
nesday night at Charlie Willlams
cabin,
About forty guests were present
with their dates. Each guest came
in costume and the prize for the
best costume was presented to
Miss Virginia Eberhardt, member I
of the Phi Chapter.

supper was served and games and i
dancing were enjoyed during the |
