to fill the beauty breach left by

Mervyn Leßroy, her discoverer,
spotted Diane lunching at Fox,
invited her to test at MGM and is
still* congratulating himself. Mov
iegoers will be seeing her in
“Skirts Ahoy” and “Lovely To
Look At.” i

ers, but this year agent Helen
Ainsworth re-discovered him.
“Gloria Swanson was very help
ful, especially in the love scenes,”
he told me. “She’d say, ‘Darling,

Bob Graham: A snub-nosed,
handsome recruit from radio and
the first crooner to be signed by
Fox since Dick Haynes left the
lot. Bob shares honors with David
Wayne as Mitzi Gaynor's leading
man in “The I Don’t Care Girl."”
Radio listeners will remember
him as 2 vocalist on the Duffy's
Tavern show. Music Director Al
fred Newman sent for him to re
ecord a duet with Jane Forman for
“With a Song in My Heart.” Stu
@io brass lamped him and handed
him a contract.
“Back in 19486 I tried for a movie
career and got nowhere,"” Bob con
fided. “This time I didn’t try and

“The trouble with me the first
time in Hollywood.” Peggy
moaned, “was that T didn't study,
1 wasn’t serfous. So I went to
New York and found out that
Stanislavski wasn't a delicatessen
owner.”

under her belt. Blonde, blue-eyed

around this studio.”
