application of Southern Airways
for a renewal of authority to op
erate its present feeder lines in
half a dozen Southern states and
to extend service to additional

Eastern Airlines is opposing re
newal and Delta Airlines is op
posing some of the extensions,
Ray testified for aeronautics
commissions of Mississippi, Alaba
ma and South Carolina and the
Georgia Juaior Chamber of Com
merce. These groups are support
ing requests of several cities to be
included in Southern’s service pat
tern. |

Frank Hulse, Southern Airways
president, was scheduled to testify
either late today or tomorrow.
Ray testified ‘Tuesday more

MIAMI June 23—(AP)—Two
young men dashed i{nto a eclinie
Tuesday night, brushed aside a
technician and fired two bullets
into Dr. Clifton Springmyer, 40,
killing him instantly.
Detective Charles Sapp said rob
bery “undoubtedly” was the mo
tive.
The men ran from the clinic and
escaped,
Dr. Springmyer's mother, Mrs.
Faye Springmyer, was in the
building, where he had living
quarters as well as his clinic, but
didn’t see her son shot to death.
Sapp said the doctor’s wallet
was on the desk of the inner of
fice where he was killed and he
must have reached for a nearby,
metal bar or made some other
