Atlanta, October 30.—“Damaged Goods,” that most-talked-of, problem play that set New York by the. ears and was the subject of world-wide comment, is coming to Atlanta. It will come south on a special tour un ties the auspices of the American Med ical society, and will be shown at the Atlanta theater. Written by Brieux, a member of the French academy and one of the great literacy lights of Europe, it deals with a terrible subject, the consequences of a well-known disease contracted through sinning. There was talk of censorship at first, but finally both censors and public began to realize that the pro found lesson it taught justified the play’s existence. The date for the appearance of the play in Atlanta has not yet been set. is understood that this play will be seen in Athens during the present season. Atlanta, October 30.—Senator Hoke Smith has just made arrangements by which any farmer in Georgia who wants it can get a copy of the most valuable publication upon the Mexican boll weevil which has ever been pre pared by the United States govern ment. It was published in 1912, and the demand for it was so great that the first issue has been entirely ex hausted. < But Senator Smith a few days ago secured action by the senate authoriz ing the publication of 4,800 additional copies. The book contains two hun dred pages, illustrated, gives a complete history and des^Pption of the weevil, together withTts habits and the best methods of resisting its injury to crops. Senator Smith has secured a large number of these additional publica tions, and has expressed a desire to place them in the hands of those farm ers really interested in the study of the question.
