Ponies in the musical comedy spectacle, "The Prince of Tonight,” which comes to the Colonial theater, matinee and night, Monday
February 23 (Washington’s birthday). A special orchestra will furnish the music for this production.
“The Prince of Tonight.**
It is a question whether Adams,
Hough and Howard, authors of a score
of successful musical comedies, have
given the public anything quite so
tuneful, so original witty and full of
action as “The Prince of Tonight,” the
musical comedy in which Tom Arnold
will be seen in the title role at the
Colonial Monday afternoon and night.
Certainly they have created nothing
which has received a more hearty wel
come in Chicago, where it ran for an
entire season, and the same enthusi
asm prevails on the road tour. Some
have attributed its charm to the capa
ble company, others to its abundance
of tuneful numbers, the story itself
has been prononuced of sufficient in
terest to stand without the aid of mu
sic, and many have waxed enthusias
tic in discussing its scenic beauty. The
story relates of a buoyant college
youth, who accepts a position of life
saver at the famous Jiotel “The
Breakers,” Palm Beach, lathough he
knows nothing of the art of swim
ming. Smitten with the charms of a

Number of Women Students
in German Universities Has
Tremendously Increased
(By Associated Press.)
Berlin, February 21.—The number
of women students at German univer-
iities has been nearly quadrupled dur
ing the past six years, according to
figures just announced. In the win
ter of 1908, when the doors of German
universities were first fully thrown
open to women there were 1,1,08 worn-
students enrolled; today there are
:j,68(> women taking regular courses,
and as many more who are attending
lectures. More than six per cent, of
■otal number of students at the
German universities are women. More
than half of all the women are study
ing philosophy, languages and history;
somewhat more than one-fourth are
studying medicine, and more than
one-fifth natural sciences.
Nearly 400 of the women students
are foreigners. Russia sends the
largest number, and America the next,
The women have for ihree years been
going more to the non-Prussian uni
versities. Leipzig and Munich espe
cially have had large gains in that
time, and the smaller institutions like
Jena, Wuerzburg and Freiburg have
also nfede relatively large gains.
