EAT LESS MEAT
IF BACK HUBIS
Take a *la«* of Salt* to flush kidneys
. - if bladder bothers
you.
Eating meat regularly eventually
produces kidney trouble in some form
or other, says a well-known authori
ty, because the uric acid in meat ex
cites the kidneys, they become over
worked; get sluggish; clog up and
cause all sorts of distress, particu-
laHy backache and misery in the kid
ney region; rheumatic twinges, se
vere headaches, acid stomach, consti
pation, torpid liver, sleeplessness,
bladder and urinary irritation.
The moment your back hurts or
kidnej's aren’t acting right, or if
bladder bothers you, get about four
ounces of Jad Salts from any good
pharmacy; take a tablespoonful in
glass of water before breakfast for
few days and your kidneys will then
act fine. This famous salts is n
from the acid of grapes and le
juice, combined with iithia, and ha:
been used for gneerations to flu:
clogged kidneys and stimulate them
to normal activity; also to neutralize
the acids in the urine so it no longer
irritates, thus ending bladder disor
ders.
Jad Salts cannot injure anyone
makes a delightful effervescent lith
ia-water drink which millions of men
and women take now and then to
keep the kidneys and urinary organs
clean, thus avoiding serious kidney
disease.

BE PRETTY! T
GRAY HAIR DARK
Try Grandmother's Old Favorite Re
cipe of Sage Tea and Sulphur.
Almost everyone knows that Sage
Tea and Sulphur, properly compound
ed, brings back the natural color and
lurtre to the hair when faded, streaked
or fray; also ends dandruff, itching
scalp and stops falling hair. Year?
ago the only way to get this mixture
was to make it at home, which it
mussy and troublesome. Nowadays
by,asking at any drug store for “Wy
eth's Sage and Sulphur Hair Remedy,'’
you will get a large bottle of this
famous old recipe for about 60 cents.
Don't stay gray! Try it! No one
can* possibly tell that you darkened
your hair, as it does it so naturally
and* evenly. You dampen a sponge
or soft brush with it and draw this
through your hair, taking one small
atntnd at a time; by morning the gray
hair disappears, and after another ap
plication or two, your hair become*
beautifully, dark* thick and glossy.

Plotters Who Plan to “Plant"
Boll Weevil Receive Warning
Atlanta, Ga., October 4.—Persist
ant reports arc reaching the office ol
State Entomologist E. Lee Worsham
with reference to plots or conspirac
ies to “plant” the boll weevil in Ful-
.on, Bibb and certain other counties
in the state where large amounts ol
.‘otton seed.are used.
The object of such action would be
.o get rid of ,the effect of the quar
antine, since the quarantine regula
tions do not apply against the ship
ment of cotton seed from one infest
'd area to another.
State Entomologist Worsham de
clared today, upon the eve of leuv-
ng the city to begin a campaign which
will cover all the counties of the in
fested district, that he and his en
tire department would keep u close
and careful lookout for any such ac
tion as this and that if any parties
were caught attempting to move the
lioli weevil for planting purposes into
non-infested counties, they would be
dealt with most rigidly under the
law.
State Entomologist Worsham will
be at the head of the party making
trip No. 1, which will include meet
ings at the following points on the
dates named;
October 4-—Fairburn, LaGrange.
October 6—Jones Cross Road, Ca-
taula.
October 6—Columbus, Cusseta.
October 7—Lumpkin, Georgetown.
October 8—Fort Gaines, Cuthbert.
October 9—Dawson, Edison.
October 11—Blakely, Colquitt.
October 12—Donaldsonville, Cairo.
October 13—Valdosta, Sparks.
October 14—Quitman, Moultrie.
October 15—Camilla, Newton.
October 16—Albany, Sylvester.
Trip No. 2, which will be headed
jy an assistant of the state depart
ment of entomology, will include thi
following stops on the dates named;
October 4—Douglasville.
October 6—Buchanan.
October (5—Carrollton.
October 7—Newnan, Franklin.
October 8—Greenville, Talbotton.
October 9—Buena Vista, Preston.
October 11—Ellaville, Oglethorpe.
October 12—Amcricus, I^esburg.
Octiber 13—Cordele, Vienna.
October 14—Richelle.
October 15—Ashburn, Tifton.
October Id—Fitzgerald, Ocilla.
There will be four speakers in each
party, each one of whom will speak
on some important phase of the prob
lem presented by the appearance ol
the boll weevil in Georgia. In each
party there will lie a business - man
who has lived under boll weevil con
ditions in Mississippi, and who will
be able to discuss from actual experi
ence the relation of the boll weevil
to business. Method-s of curtailing
the number of weevils and their ac
tivity will be discussed, and other
subjects treated of on this trip will
bo diversification and live stock.
It is going to be a quick and ener
getic campaign throughout, but it is
important that it be made at this
time because there is imperative work
to l»e done now in the cleaning up ol
cotton fields in order to prevent the
rapid and extensive propagation of
the weevil next year.

KEPT THEIR MARRIAGE
SECRET FOR TEN YEARS
New Rochelle, N. Y., October 4.—
For ten years John Cabot Lewis, now’
30 years old, and Helen Fales, 28,
have been “keeping company.” They
lived next door to each other, lie with
his father and she with hms.
Every day, Lewis would go to work
in New York. In the evening, the
young woman would meet him and
lhey would go for a walk.
People would) look al them and
vonder. Some one once got up the
icrve to ask them why they did not
narry, and Lewis said, “Oh, were
lappy just as we are.”
Friday Lewis didn’t go to work.
Lewis, instead sought .Mr. Kales and
•tutteied; ‘‘I married your daughter
n New York ten years ago. 1 didn t
lave nerve to tell ami Helen didn t
other. I’m sorry we kept it secret so
ong,” and he waved a marriage cer-
ificate.
Just then a doctor and nurse came
»ut of the Fale’s home. They told
.ew’is that it was a fine healthy boy.
JRY-FARMING CONGRESS
OPENED TODAY IN DENVER
(By Associated
Denver, Col., October 4.—The clev-

ational Dry-Farming Congress open-
nl in Denver oday, .'hen Congress-
nan I<\ \V. Mondell of Wyoming, the
iresident of the congress, delivered
lis annual address. He noted with
egret that the war in Europe had
•aused the absence of delegates to
•ongress from certain European
ountries.
He warned- the dry-farm men not
.o gamble with nature. Notwith-
tanding that the past season had
wrought an unusual rain-fall and
muntious crops on dry-farms, he cau-
ioned against any relaxation in the
ipplication of scientific methods of
noisture-conservation. This alone, he
laid, would make farming uniformly
afe and profitable in regions of nor
mally liimted rainfall.
“More than half the cultivated and
•ultivablc areas of our country and
>f the earth.” he said, “normally
have insufficient percipitation to in-
mre the growth of profitable crops.
Gambling never pays in the long run;
md its hazards are never greater
‘han when one states his enterprise
on the hope that nature will depart
from her normal attitude in favor of
his venture.”

A Third Message
To the Business Men of Athens
Prosperity and local pride are twins. They are born at the sama time and grow
up together. Enthusiasm for the home town is a great thing for local business
men. Once developed, this feeling shows direct returns in more sales and bigger
profits.
Have you ever seen a shabby town proud, or prosperous? Good paint is a
powerful factor in keeping prosperity after a community has won it.
