Jail Cases—Most of the Defend
ants Were Found Guilty.
Judge West called city court to
irder this morning in order to dis
pose of a number of jail cases. -The
Irst case called on the docket was
against Fred Fredmoore, chargco
jvith larceny from the house. Fred
mtered a pica of “not guilty.” The
;ourt thought otherwise and he wa*
icntenced to pay $50 or serve twelve
nonths on the gang.
The next case brought before the
•ourt was charging Charlie Edwards

way. It seems that Charlie had dT3-
xirbed everything within a radius oi
ibbut five miles. " He was found
guilty.
Bob Brown, charged with simple
arceny, was next called before the
bar. He was found guilty of stcal-
ng $1.40. He was sentenced to pay
|30 or serve three months on the
roads.
Paul Green, the boy who was
found stealing a ride on a train setf*
eral days ago, was next tried. He
was found guilty and sentenced to
130 or three months.
Next in order came Wither Oglesby,
who it seems had entered an agree
ment, whereby he was to look after a
•ow for a certain length of time,
after which he was to have a caTTI^.

the agreement Wather sells .the cow
and spends all the money. He was
found guilty of larceny after trust
and was sentenced to pay $25 ane
costs or serve twelve months on the

tion for a new trial was filed.

gia Mandolin Club, announces the

The material for the club is better
this year than it has ever been be
fore. At the next meeting o'f the
club the second cut will be made. In
about a week or two the final cut will
be made'and the names of the mem
bers of tho club for this year will be
given out.
Officers Emerick, Burpee and Brad
ley last night confiscated 41% pints
of whiskey and arrested three white
men of Athens, charging them with 1
having liquor on hand for the pur
pose of barter or aaie. The there men
under arrest are R. L. Porter, R. B*.
Thomas and J. T. Thornton.
Yesterday afternoon the officers"
became suspicious and watched this
actions of the men. They were not
caught in the act of selling liquor,
hut the officials claim that they can
prove that the men had it for that
’ purpose.'
The men claim that they had
shipped here for use. It was sent to
Center and it was from there tha,
they hauled it in a buggy. Late yes
terday afternoon they camo driving
into tho city and the officers searched
the buggy over near tho'S. A. L. de
pot. A littlo over five gallons of the
iroggy stuff was found In the bugg .

Citizens of Pine Bluff have raised
a fund of $260 with which her ex
penses to New York, whore she will

regain use of her arms. Collections

RINGS FOR THE
CONQUERORS OF WARSAW
Karlsruhe, October 8.—A wealthy
jewelry manufacturer of Pforzheim
has donated 2,000 silver signet rings
to the German troops who entered
Warsaw first after the Russians were
driven out. The general staff decided
that the thirteenth Wuerttemberg
Landsturm Regiment penetrated the
inner fortifications of tho Polish capi
tal about fifteen minutes before tha
Bavarians, who broke through at an
other point. The rings therefore
have been awarded to the Wuerttem
berg "landsturmei s.” The officers ot
the regitnent received gold rings.
