What a Joyful Jitney Ride!
The Rambler has been out riding
in a jitney for the past few days and
‘on each trip he seems to note soma-
“~t!|tlig which he has never noticed be
fore. While out for a spin yester
day afternoon the Rambler thought
( that it would be best to go a short
distance out the Jefferson road.
After going about three miles past
the State Normal School he came
upon a cur standing just a little off
the main road. Thinking that per
haps the car was broken down Jie
Rambler and his friend stopped to
•look it over. Sitting on the far side
of the car were two young peopi>
who reside in the city of Athens. 1
seems that they were so interested
that they did not hear the jitney
coming arid were taken by surprise.
Well, the Rambler saw them since
'and they made it a point to see him
first.
The Rambler read in the tyess des
patches of Saturday that a Hobart
Boulevard club woman, I>os Angeles,
’Cal., is doing her bit in the economy
campaign by going barefoot about
the house to save shoe leather. That’:
old stuff. The Rambler knows two
ladies living on Milledge avenue who
have been going barefoot about the
house for years for the same rea-
Jones’ dairyman had just finished
explaining to him that he was forced
to increase the price of milk from 5
to 8 cents a pint. He told Jones that
the price of cow feed, milking ma
chinery, lujpber for building bams,
labor and all the things that are es
sential in the conduct of a first-class
dairy made the increase necessary.
“Oh, 1 guess so, wearily replied the
victim, but there’s one thing I can
not understand—they don’t pay any
thing for the food the fishes eat, and
yet the prices of fishes has gone up.
It’s too much for me.’’
Ross Coker, formerly the Rambler
on The Harald, sends us this one
from Los Angeles:
Immigrant officials (examining
Italian for admission into the United
States): “Who is the president of the
United- States?” Wop: “Vilson.” Offi
cial: “Who elects the president?”
Wop: “California.” And he got by
at that.
GREENWOOD SHOWS ARRIVE

be a great deal better than the one

believe, as the last year’s show was
one of the best of its kind ever seen

ladles of the company, went over the

Herald reporter that he was sure
glad to get back in Athens, ai he and
his company were treated in su.-h
royal manner on their last visit to the
city.

the streets this morning and the ir
stre! band furnished some excellent
music on the corner of College ave
nue and Clayton street. This is one
of.the best bands that has been in the
city for several months and it will
furnish the music at the show each
evening and at the matinee on Sat
urday aftrnoon.

The Boils Of Lazarus
woro eased by the dogs who licked
the infected places, but they were not
cured. Many modern people employ
the same method in their treatment
of boils, pimples, rashes, carbuncles,
eczema ana other akin diseases. They
apply a salve or lotion to the sore
places and fondly imagine they have
cured them. The important fact which
they fall to recognize is, that ttiese
skin diseases are diseases of the blood,
and that no external treatment can
permanently euro them, because they
are esaontlally internal nllmonta.
S. S. S. is the only proper remedy for
this breaking out of tho skin, because
it acts upon the blood, cleansing and.
revitalizing it, and removing the cause
of infection. It should bo borne in
mind that S. S. S. is purely vegetable,
made front native roots, herbs and
barks, and that it contains no habit-
forming drugs or other injurious in
gredients. Obtain a bottle of S. S. S.
from your druggist and if you need
tho advice of a' physician, write to the
Medical Department Swift Specific
Co., 801 Swift Building, Atlanta. Ga.
