vation Army campaign for $5,000.
At this meeting the captains of
the canvassing teams reported on
their work and were assigned ad-
ditiona 1 territory. _
Mr. M. G. Michael, president of
the Salvation Army Advisory
Board stated this morning that it
was impossible to estimate the
results of the campaign thus far
unti lthe team captains had'' re
ported this afternoon.
, Mr. Michael will be called out
of town Thursday morning re
turning Thursday night. Mean
while the workers will carry on
their good work as usual.
“No cause is more worthy of
support,” said Mr. Michael, “and
the people of Athens should ‘give
and give freely’ until our city
goes over the top.”

“He called me everything imag-

street, Wednesday morning as. she
pointed an accusing finger at her
husband. Doctor Born. He was
fhide $20 on a charge of being
drunk and disorderly'and now re
mains In the city jail, awaiting
trial, on default of two bonds, one
of $200 for wire-beating and a $500
peace warrant. -s.
Mrs. Born stated that her hus
band had made a practice of com
ing home intoxicated and that he
freouently bad threatened her life.
“When he came home last night
he tried to break the door down
end when 1 opened the door he
1 sprang at me with an open knife
arrd said he was going to kill me,”
• stated Mrs. Born. '

; wifo’s accusations and alleged that
j Mrs. Born was subject to fits and
j had at one time run away from
J home and hid away with an old
| woman for several months. He
j will face Judge Bradley, on the
i charge of wife-beating, at the next
I session of the City Court.

John Roberson, a negro, seems
to have admired the style of cloth

Chi Phi fraternity Tuesday after
noon so much that he walked away,
after a brief visif to the. chapter
house cook, with a suit belonging
to one of the members.
The police nabbed the negro th**
morning at eight ' o’clock, after
they had received a notice of the
theft from the janitor at the Chi
Phi hoiise. The alleged thief is be
ing held’ until the suit an be iden
tified.
