While returning from Monte zuma last Wcdneasday Mr. Wil liam Woodruff of near Doolingfel! from his buggy dead. lie had been to Montezuma trading that day and.was reurning home. He had reached within two or three miles of home when he fell from his buggy, seemingly without a struggle, dead. His horse went on towards home. Becoming frightened at something she found that she had no muster a into a run. In turning corner the buggy struck a tree and she broke loose and ran home. Soon some of the family had gone back and found him. Thera were no evidence of any struggle what ever. He had been up in Houston county to big plantation. He was driving a colt. Upon his return the horse stopped to drink at a small stream. When he threw his head down to drink the overcheck to the bridle fell dovyu in the water. The horse placed his foot on the cheek and when he raised his head off came the bridle. This fright ened him and he ran away. For three miles he ran and did not swerve from the road nor meet any one. Reaching a creak thatUwas too deep to run through’ he stop ped to walk. Editors Projri’ss: We thought we could not better employ a few leisure hours this bright spring morning than in giving your readers a brief descrip tion of the above named place. I must say that the writer is per haps a little partial to it, haying been ultimately associated with the good people here for the past two years. But as there is no Post ollice here, a few words of ex planation is necessary. About four years ago Messrs. A. J. Morris and J. C. Tracy, two enterprising Christian gentlemen of North Georgia, bought a large body of finely timbered land near Arabi, for the purpose of putting down a large saw-mill. Since then tiie busy hum of machinery has broken the stillness of the pine forest, and the unmistakable evi dences of industry and progress are plainly to be seen. Cottage after cottage has been erected un til the pretty Southern Hill has been converted into quite a little town. Harmony Grove, the church at this place, is under the pastorinl care this year of Rev. J. W. Reese. With a minister whose heart is tilled with the love of God, and a large membership, “zealous of good works,” a church cannot fail to be as a “light that is set upon a hill.” Of course such a church has a flourishing sabbath school in which to train the youthful minds, and guide the tender feet of the pre cious little children in the bright path that leads heavenward. Our superintendent, Mr. J. C. Tracy, is a man of untiring zeal, and his no ble efforts, together with other faithful workers has been the means of building up a sabbath school at this place of which any community might be proud. It never goes into winter quarters, but both winter and summer it sheds its heavenly light around the children's pathway. Early im pressions are the most lasting, and useful lessons will be stamped on many young heart** which time will never efface. A neat academy fir the literary school has been built, and many bright-eyed boys and girls daily wend theri way to the little school room to pore over lessons, which if rightly learned, will fit them for useful men and women. School days are “golden grains in the hour-glass of time.” What pre cious memories will cluster around the school house, in which they have recited so many lessons; and tlie play ground on which they- have spent so many happy hours; all will ever be fresh in their rec- : olicction, and even the lapse of Dr. Mobley is just up from a spell of sickness. We are glad to know that he is well again. M r. William Woodruff was coming home from Montezuma last Wednesday and fell from his bug gy and died from heart failure.
