The committee on the Poor
House made their report, which
was adopted by this body, as fol
lows.
‘•We the unde-«i xiied committee
to examine the Po r House beg
leaye to make the fo lowing report.
We find five inmates, three whi.es
anti two colored. All seem to be
well cared for. We learn from the
Mui.on that they have plentv t
substantial food, meat, meal flop
syrup, rice and coffee. Wc pad
llie fumitu -e and bedding in good
cle» nly condition. We find sonic
repa.i s needed about the building.
The hack sued to one house
needs underpinning. We find one
broken sash and a good many
lights out. As winter is coming
on and the windows in condition
to let in wind and rain, wc think
it should be repaired at once. We
find some repairs needed about
the garden. Some of the posts
are rotted down and some paiings
off. We find very few vegetables,
but they have a nice turnip patch.
All of which we respectfully
submit.”
Reason Whitehead,
B. D. Brvan,
B. F. Watson,
Committee,
We find the public roads of the
county in good condition, except
that part of the lower road to
Huwkinsville near the residence of
J. A. Perry, in bad condition, and
we call the attention of the Road
Commissioners of the district to
the same. We also find a biidge
across a ditch near Eureka in a
very bad condition and we speci
ally call toe attention of the Road
Commissioners of the district to
the dangerous condition of said
bridge. Wc further find that
some of the roads within the in
corporate limits of the town of
Cordele in bad conditon a.d we
would respectfully call the atten
tion of the City Council to the
same. We learn that the turn
pike near Dr. Pate's farm on the
road leading from Snow to Una
dilla is in bad condition and we
request that the Road Commis
sioners of said district be required
to place the said turnpike in good,
condition, and that the same be
done immediately.
We recommend that the bill of
BaiTiff J. M. Howard for $19.22
for services rendered this court,
as per account made this body, be
paid.
We have received the report of
the committee appointed from our
body to examine the jail and re
port thereon, which we adopt as
follows:
We the committee appointed to
examine the jail beg leave to make
the following report.
“We find the jail insufficient, in
secure and inadequate for the ac
commodation of the usua 1 number
of prisoners. We suggest the en

some material change being made
that would give more and better

Value of a Good Digestion.
A mau with a good digestion is
more likely to be true and loving and
charitable and honorable than oye
who has ruined his temper and diges
tion together, and since one of the
best assistants to digestion is a good
use of the teeth let us calmly sit
down to our dinner as our English
friends do, and as we enjoy our meal
rebuff any whispers of wasted time
by remembering that if the body is
not cared for the mind and soul go
wrong; that to eat and drink and
sleep and bathe well will not only
make us healthier and handsomer,
but as a consequence, smarter and
better. A good digestion makes a
good man, and though there may be
demons who chew their food well
there never was an angel who dul
not masticate his.—New York Led
