In this eminently progressive age, the education of no young man, no matter what his intended avocation, can be regarded as fully qualifying him for success unless he possesses a business training. Where to get that of the most practical character most quickly and cheaply is the question. This paper ventures nothing in saying that investigation will prove the Ga.—Ala. Business College of Ma con, Ga., to be the very institution. Many young men in six to twelve weeks at an expense of only $20, to $30, have recently fin ished book-keeping, telegraphv nr shorthand there, and. in spite of the hard times, immediately stepp ed into positions paying $50 to $75 per month. There' is a spring in Brooke county, Georgia, which is a very short time converts wood and sev eral other substances into hard rock. The peculiar qualities of this Georgia fountain have been known since early’ in the century, when an old “bear hunter” acci dentally lost his knife in the ba sin, which has been hollowed out of the granite strata by the cease less -bubbling of the water. A month later the old trapper again repaired to the spring and was agreeably’surprised to. find his fa- yorite knife. The water had no effect on the bright steel, not even to the extent of leaving a speck of rust, but with the wood of the knife’s handle jt was far different The petrifying particles, with which the water is so highly im pregnated, had entered every'pore and snap-tube in the wood, and what was but a few weeks before a hickory handle of home make was now two thin slabs of solid stone, wood-like in appearance, but as hard and unyielding as chips from a granite bowlder.
