A great deal is^said by visitors
to our town about the hogs and
cows running loose on our streets
and mutilating vehicles that are
left upon our streets. It is too
true that a $2.00 hog or a $7.00
cow frequently does $10.00 worth
of damage to an $100.00 buggy in
the attempt to get therefrom the
feed brought along for the horses
and mules. But it is no use to
talk stock law in Vienna? Our
people are too much interested in !
their $2.00 hogs and $7,00 cows to
man’s favor now there would not
be much kicking done! He seems
to have forgotten that the war is
over and the people have some
thing better to be done than tel
ling old re-hashed 3'arns about it.

Prospective candidates for the
county offices tire being freel3 r
spoken of now. It is said that
there will bo at least six candi
dates for representatives and the
other officers will certainly be
j contested for. Numbers of per
sons are inquiring among their
friends as to how they think the
“cat will jump” for certain offices
and all this means that there will
be some candidates in the field be
fore long. Mr. M. E. Rushin says
that lie sincerely thanks the peo
ple for tile three terms that they
have given him as Collector and
for fear that they may feel that he
wants to homestead on the office
he will not make the race next
time. The friends of Prof. E G.
Greene are urging him to apply
for this and lie probably has the
matter under advisement.
There are some rumors as to can
didates for the offices of Sheriff
and Clerk but they have not as
sumed any shape as 3’et.
For representatives, we do not
know whether the Mess. Pate will
make the race again. They made
good representatives and could
j hardly be beaten if they enter. In
connection with these we hear
! quite prominently the names of
Gapt. S- W. Coney, lion. Jno. C.
Owen, Col. D. A. R. Crum, Judge
J. T. Carlisle, Ma3*or J. B. Scott,
of Cordele, and numbers of his
friends say that they are going to
insist that Mr. M. E. Rushin enter
the race.
The indications now are that
some fun will be had in Dooly a
