The Board of Roads and Reve nues will hold a business meeting in the courthouse on Tuesday next. Thirty-five persons and twenty- three trunks were carried to Dor ter Springs from Gainesville last Saturday. There are 110 guests it this noted resort at present. The funeral of Miss Ell a Bow en, which was to have been preached the fourth Sunday in August, has been postponed until the fifth Sablmth in July. Sei- viccs will he conducted by Rev. S. M. Kinsey. Merrill and Small, of Massachusetts are engaged in opening up the asbestos property belonging to Mrs. Denton, a wid ow lady who resides a short dis tance north-east of the city. We learn that this property is valua ble and hope it may be properly shown up and a big sale made. Mrs. J. H. Nichols, wife of our esteemed friend, Capt. Nichols, of Nncoochee, was adjudged in sane by a jury trial last Monday, and will he taken to the asylum at an early day. Mrs. Nichols was an inmate of the asylum about twenty years ago, but such has been her misfortune that she will be returned again. This brings regret to the entire com munity, and it can only be Imped that her recovery will bo an ac celerate one. PEOPLE’S PARTY IN HABER SHAM. Demoukst, Ga , Julv 20th, ’92. The People's party mass meet ing held in the court-house at Clarkesvillc, July 18tli, was a success in every particular. The meeting was called to or der by J. B. King, chairman ex ecutive committee. A. IV. Har per was elected chairman, and L. Fi Maxwell and E. It. Sutton, secretaries. Elected Messrs. Perkins, Edmonds, Woodall and Stott to the gubernatorial con vention in Atlanta, and Messrs. King, Stott, Stephens and Grant to the congressional convention to tic hohl in Gainesville. These delegates all go uninstriicted. After the election of the dele gates, those two fat, jovial, over ready men, Jim Hump, Grant and Toni Edmonds escorted the speak ers, Messrs. Mahalfy of Jackson county, an d Thadcus Pickett of Cherokee, into the courtroom. Mr. Muhnft'y spoke for one hour and fifty-five minutes on the issues involved in the present campaign. After a i cross of one hour, Rev. T. Pickett entertained the meet ing for over two hours with one of his big speeches.
