Where is Parson West’s four hundred majority that he claim ed in White? Echo answers, where! Wednesday sounded the first stroke of the death-knell of the People’s party. The final stroke will sound in January. Overcoats and new hats that were won on the lecont election, are now in order. Fetch ’em in boys. The boys had a big jubilee after the returns came in Wednesday night. Pistols, Anvils and moon- Biiiie Next week is court-week, come ill and see us, and don’t forget to Ktdweriho. If you are a candidate let every body know it, by. announcing yourself in the Piiooiiksh. Carter Tute handles his points well, and is conclusive in his ar guments. llis spouch here was highly applauded by tho hoys, and they are uoing to give him a majority hero next month. Saturday proved our words of last week true. The People’s party followers nearly all stayed at home, and their speakers fail- til to accept tho challenge for a joint debate. Most of the Peo ple’s party speakers are afraid to meet Simmons. Some unscrupulous parties arc circulating the report that Pick ett and Twitty were not notified of tho proposed joint debate here. This is false. Wesont each a mark ed copy of the paper, and a hand bill, in a regular envelope ad dressed to their respeeti homes The November elections come next. Let no Democrat allow his interest to abate one jot; keep an even stkp and present an unbroken front, and we will send up a shout of victory that will reach from Maine to gulf and from the Atlantic to California. The Third party sore-hacks are crying fraud! fraud!! already; but they can not buck their state ments. Five dollars was oil'crcd to one of these a rau triers for proof, and ho tried to produce it, and failed. He only found a Demo cratic vote when he sifted it down. The uuteritied Democracy is still on top. White county is safe in the fold, by a clean vote. Northen, Heaves and Dean car ried the county by a safe majori ty and reports from Lumpkin and Dawson, verify tho state ment* made by the friends of Judge Heaves on the eve of elec tion, that Heaves would be our next Senator. High! prevails in the land once more, and those who have boon sleeping, are awake and alive to the importance of saving the day. The People’s party have been claiming White by a majority of two to four hundred, but they tiud when it comes to counting votes that tho majority is on the other side. Let us all rejoice. Hcports from Hall say that the Democratic candidates arc elect ed by scv< n hundred majority, from Lumpkin, that. Charters lias carried over Woodward by two hundred, and so on and onto the lower end of the state. The yeomanry of the country is still united, and will see that Democratic principles prevail in this fair land of ours. Now; let evciy man keep his shoulder to thcjwhoel; let every man do his duty as a Democrat; let us all pull as one man, once more; and when November comes we will bury Parson Pickett so deep that no party, however anx ious for men with black records and questionable principles, will resurrect him. lleeause we have won the first victory, our interest must not abate in the least, and in No vember we will bury the Peo ple's party in White county and the ninth district., under so deep a cover of Democratic votes that they will not hear (iubricl’s trum pet when lie calls for ilis '‘chos en party” on resurrection morn. Stantons melodious jingles fur nish a daily source of pleasure to tho thousands of the Constitu tions readers, and Folsom, has a spirit so near akin to our great Poc, that his songs possess the same weird pathos and lurid tire that made Poe’s songs so popular. We clip tho following from the Atlanta Journal, which is so for tunate ns to number Mr. Folsom as one of its stuff: THE HEATH OF SUMMER. They were partially disappoint ed, however, for Pickett and Twitty both failed to show up, and none of the Third party lo cal speakers felt like taking up the gage. The Court house was full and crowded, ninny not being aide to find seats. Col. Simmons of Gwinnett, opened, and held the crowd fin- two hours by bis masterly argu ments and substantiated state ments. He made no statement but what he could prove, and offered a reward for anyone who would disprove them, lie pouted hot shot into the ranks and iiieteiless- ly exposed the Third party lead ers to the view of all, until it got so hot for some of the adherents of these demagogues, that they left the audience. At a call from the speaker for those who would vole for Tate, to hold up their hands, hundreds of hands went up. I lien lie cull ed for the Pickett men, and about twenty five or thirty held up their hands, after some bottling and exhtntii g from the People's pat ty boss. Col. Simmons is not an elo quent speaker; but Ins speeches are full of logical argument which few men in tlie state elm meet, lie is a forcible speaker, and be- ftirc an intelligent, audience he can accomplish immeasurable good. Hon. F. C. Tate followed, in liis original way, having no word of abuse for. his wily opponent. Hut his exposure of Peek and Watson and Weaver, were tell ing blows for Democracy. Mr, Tate made many now friends and votes by his speech, and felt en couraged by the hearing given him. Between four and live hundred voters listened to tho speeches, three fourths of whom seemed to ho hurrahing for Tate and Democ racy.
