wages at the Homestead, Beaver Falls,

the Carnegie Stool Company for 1894,

the wages paid at Homestead to date

YELLOW FEVER AT RIO.
The Dreaded I’inguc Seizes Upon tlio
War-Stricken City.
A Buenos Ayres special of Thursday
says: Very taut news has reached here
from Rio do Janeiro. It is announced
that the important city, which has
■ been suffering froin. the ravages of the
war, is now a victim of iho worst and
most dreaded of all diseases—yellow
fever -and five deaths from this dis
ease are already reported. Nows that
yellow fever has added its burdens
and horror to the suffering already eu-
dured by the people of Rio, lms
caused widespread attention, and
much sympathy is expressed for
tho plague and tho war-stricken
inhabitants. It is added, however,
that tho government is taking every
precaution possible, under the circum
stances, to prevent a spread of the dis
ease, but tho work of tho ollioials at
Rio do Janeiro is greatly hampered by
the condition to which tho city has
been reduced by the horrors of war.
It is stated that the yellow fever,which
has broken out in Rio, is not a mild
form of that fever, but the worst form
of black fever.

for the Denver postmastership. He
succeeds James A. Small, resigned.

The programme upon which the tnr-

is the present intention to allow the
debate to run on for some timo and if

repeal certain laws relating to perma
nent and indefinite appropriations."

total balance on the first of December

during tho month of $4,712,348. The
loss, however, has fallen more largely
upon tlio curronoy balance than upon
the gold reserve. Tlio marked excess
of expenditures over receipts, it is
now believed will show a deficiency in
the revenues at tho close of the calen
dar year of approximately $37,000,-
000.

Resolutions were adopted denying
that there existed sufficient reason for
calling an extra session of the legisla
ture nnd declaring such a course would
do tho state moro harm than good.

monetization of silver, her other re

A masked burglar entered the honse
of Mrs. Ellon Kelly, five miles south
west of Argentine, Mo., Sunday. She
and her daughter Eliza live alone nnd

three-cornered struggle followed. The
