Tlio Washington ?o»t says that
Cleveland can retire two years
hence “with a name that will
embellish history” and that la-
will “live'in the world’s memory
aiComi of the brilliant galaxy of
otir greatest men." Americans
have j-over read with love or in
terest the history of a dictator,
and the livoanfall such have been
repugnant to them. They may
change in twenty-five years, if
the domination of England
continues, Cleveland’s name
may some day embellish a fotoign
history but wodo not believe that
it will excite much admiration
if America remains American. If
Cleveland keejw up his reputation
for duck shooting his name
may embellish some sporting
Journal. It may go down to his
tory with that of Nimrod but not
with that of Washington.

During the Imposition there will
lie thousands of strangers who
will desire to patronize saloons
late at night. They cannot get
what they want from a legal es
tablishment and will patronize
“blind tigers.” Atlanta will
have more “holes in Ihc wall”
during the Exposition than she
will have regular saloons.

announces himself for free silver.
It would seem from this that
Carlisle and his crowd have not
been able to shut. Hardin’s mouth.
The Methodist ministers of At
lanta threaten to immediately
bring on a prohibition election in
that city. The Atlanta daily pa
pers are begging them to desist,
and to postpone tht- matter until
after the Exposition, if they un
determined on an election. It
seems to us that it would
be unfortunate to precipitate a
prohibition campaign in Atlanta
now.
