Many of the Democratic gold-
bng papers are urging a late Na
tional Convention next, year and
less politi ail. This scheme is an
administration one and won’t
work. The object of it is to de
lay a nomination as long as possi
ble so as to corrupt u oro people
by Federal jobs. These gold
bug papers presume t hut one of
their ilk will be nominated by
the Democrats fur President.
They hope a lute Convention will
prevent deflections from the par
ty, as the discontented ones will
not have time to organize or seek
a more pleasant alliance. The
Demon alio party has always
blundered at the wrong time
and it’s fixing to do so next year
by disregarding the wishes of the
masses and nominating a Wall
Street, doeipie for its standard,
bearer.
The Alpnaretta Free Press says
it “lias it from a reliable source
that the lion. ('al ter Tate will In
with the people on tho silver
question.” As the Fieo Press
is a gold-hug sheet it must mean
tl at Mr. Tate will fall on that
side of the question. Wo do not
believe this. The people are all
on the silver side of this question
and if Mr. Tate is with the peo
ple there is no doubt how he will
stand.
All the newspapers admit that

y Obituary.
Ilenry Harrison was born Au
gust 20, 1 861. and died Septem
ber 2, 1895. In December, IH83,
was married to Mis- Julia Allen,
and their union was blessed by
six children, four girls and two I
hoys, all of whom are left to j
mourn the sad loss.
About ten years ago he joined I
the Methodist Episcopal Church,
South, and lived ail acceptable
moodier until bis death.
He was snatched away from
this world without a moment's
notice, being crushed to death by
a falling cave at the Longs free t
mine, and it is to lie hoped went
home to a better land.
Harrison was comparatively a
poor man from a worldly sense,
but ho possessed those qualities
which will last when all that
sparkle and dazzle lias passed
away, “honesty and industry .”
no was a loving and devoted
husband, a kind and a fleet innate
father, a good, moral and up
right ■ itizi n, anil was loved and
respected by all who know him.
Weep not, fond companion and
children, for it is your privilege
to meet olio day in that happy
land where sad farewells are
