Sam .Jones is now conducting a
series of meetings in the Moodv
tabernacle in Atlanta. Though
we don’t much admire Sam’s
methods, there is no doubt that
ho accomplishes good. In a re
cent sermon at Trinity church in
Atlanta, he said: “As I grow
older I honor woman more, ail 1
think every man does. I honor
womanhood I am kin to every wo
man, for my mother was a woman,
my wife is a woman and the
daughter at my home is a woman.
There is no prettier picture under
the sun than a good, sweet wife
walking beside her husband and
their children following after in
their footsteps. I dont like to
see the wife following behind.”
Oh, how beautiful it is to love!
Even thou that snecrcst and
laughest in cold indifference or
scorn, when others aie near thee—
thou, too must acknowledge its
truthfulness when thou art alone,
and confess that a foolish world is
prone to laugh in public sit what
in private it reveres as one of the
highest impulses of our nature—
namely. Love.* * * Oh, there is
nothing holier than the first con
sciousness of lovo—-the first fiut-
terings of its silken wings—the
first rising sound and breath of
that wind which is so soon to
sweep through the soul to purify
or destroy.—Longfellow.

It is to he hoped that the
people are studying the question.
If this is done we have no fear

Prof. Van House has organized
in Gainesville a night school for
the working hoys and young
men of that city who haven’t the
opportunity to attend the public
school. Prof. Van Moose charges
nothing for his services, the only
requisite made of pupils is a good
character. The city council is in
