until the interest of enterprising

to work and build such a line.
The rich mineral deposits, pro
duetive farming and pasture land
and line limber make Ibis section
tin* richest of the Stale, hut if the

development continue to lie dor
mant our section will lie like un
to the gem of purest ray serene,
'which we’ve all read about. Wo
have the country, and nothing less
than barrels of money await him
who brings a lailroad here. To
the Journal wo suggest that it
keep the racket going and ere we
realize it there will la* a road from
Atlanta to Cleveland via Gum
ming, Dawson, Dahlonegn and
other points,
It cannot he denied that the line
suggested bv the Journal will re
sult in the development of the re
sources of this section and will
carry thousands of dollars to At
lanta markets. This is a good
thing; the best thing we’ve heard
of in months, and wo hope the
plan will amount to moro than
the previous railroad talk of those
parts.
Wo hear more talk about the
removal of Young llariis college
to Kneoochee. It is reported that
Mr. Gcorgo AY. Williams has of
fered #20,000 to the college if the
Jliovo is made. Lit :le more than
half this amount would tit the col
lege with new and hotter build
ings than it has now. Hut the
trustees are to decide, and no
doubt the motives and wishes of
the late Judge Harris, when he
made his generous donation to the
college, will he considered, and
will have their weight in the de
cision rendered.
This is a hard, cold, unfeeling
world, yet there is an occasional
cause for fervent gratitude—among
recent blessings, the "Custorin”
company has changed the style of
its advertising plates, and “What
is Custoria?” no longer stares the
long sull’cring newspaper reader
in the face.
The State tax rate for the pres
