The weather eoatinues lovely, and

We are glad to be able to chronicle the
fact that the Car Factory building is almost
completed, and the machinery will be here
before a great while. This is another strong
evidence of Cartersville’s prosperity, energy

thera is not the shadow of a doubt. Well

Another one of those big days—Sat
urday—has past and gone, and ‘numbered
among the things that were; the town was
full of people ; money floated about freely ;
dry goods disappeared as if by magic, from
the shelves of the stores; clerks and propri
etors » ere busy making change and tieing
up bundles; wagons, from the rural dis
tricts, crowded the streets; ‘colored troops’
present in large numbers, investing exten
sively in “benzine,” and “that’s the way
their money goes;” skating rink largely
attended ; ladies, not a few, on the streets,
adding grace, dignity and beauty to the
appearance of things, and “looked like Ve
nus just from the sea young gentlemen
occupying conspicuous places, giving their
cigars “fitsold gentlemen and middle
aged gentlemen looked knowingly and ap

ting this one and that one, trying to “get
up” items, catin" apples and chawin’ goo
bers on the spirits of the press; to make a
long story short, everything we saw and
heard looked and sounded very much like
business. Welcome Saturday, welcome
people, welcome greenbacks, welcome wag
ons, welcome everybody ! And we still
stand to it, that this is a LARGE town!
The body of Mr, Mabry, tlie gentle
man who was drowned at Tumlin’s mill,
several weeks ago, was found on Sunday
last, by a Mr. Finch, on an island, about ten
miles below here, known as Milam's island,
near the residence of our friend, T. J. Lion.
Mr. Finch, it seems, visited the island
merely out of curiosity, and was so shocked
and affrighted at so very unexpectedly find
ing a corpse, that he returned to the shore
with the greatest possible haste, and from
thence he proceeded to find someone to
whom to communicate his sad story, which
he did, but c mid not be induced to return
and assist in getting the dead man to the
shore. Mr Jas. W. Tinsley, assisted by
Mr. William Lion, qpd another gentleman,
whose name we did not learn, carried his
lifeless and awfully disfigured body to the
bunk, and then procuring a wagon brought
it to town. It was an awful sight to behold,
and made an indellible impression upon the
minds ot all whobehdd it. He was perfect
ly black, his dull, glazed, sightless eyes
were sunk far in his head, and the only
way by which he could be identified or re
cognized was by his clothes. The recovery
of his body will be a great source of comfort
to his grief-stricken wife, and will, to some
extent, alleviate her sorrow. May she
put her trust in Him who says He will be a
“husband to the widow and a father to the
fatherless,” and who can all her “sorrows
heal.”
Several new dwellings are going up
in town—good omens, these. People who
come to our town must have honses in which
to live, and the cry is, “still they come*”

Cheering Facts for tlie Billious*
Every day demonstrates more clearly that
liver complaint, in all its distressing forms,
can be controlled and cured without diffi
culty or inconvenience. It is is an obsti
nate disease, but its obstinacy is not proaf
against the pertinacious, remedial and re
storative operation of Hostetter’s Stomach
Bitters. That genial corrective compels the
organ to do its duty. It must secret regularly
and healthfully under the influence of the
Bitters. Their action brings it back from
a state of rebellion into> perfect harmony
with the laws of htalth.. If their is costive
ness, it disappears.;: if there is side-ache or
back-aclse, it ceases; if the skin and the
whites of the- ey.es are tinged with superflu •
ous bile, they reeover their natural hue ; if
the appetite is gone; it returns; if the di
gestion is impaired, it ia restored ; in brief,
whatever the symptoms of the complaint
may be, and whatever the phase it hag
assumed, a cure is certain Bach are the
uniform effects of this preparation where
billious disease has been’ already developed :
but in cases where- there is merely a con--
stitulional tendency to liver complaint, it
may be prevented throughout life by the
regular use, in small quantities of this
palatable antidote. Theae are proven facts,
and should be seriously pondered—or rather
they should be promptly acted upon—by all
persons of billious habit.

Tuscaloosa, Ala.. I
December *221,1870. i
Col. W. D. Mann :
Sir.—Your Circular of the lsj snst. came to
hand. As we found the Langdon Fertilizer the
best that we tried, I give you mv experience
with it. Our land is poor, red hill land. Used
200 Ills, to the acre. We used one ton of Gillara’s,
at $75; three tons of Zell’S, at $55 per ton; two
tons of the Longdon, at S6O per ton. The land
was all worked alike, and the some quautitv
used of each, r did uot keep the weights of each
field separate, hut attended to the picking and
weighing myself, and khow that there wa> more
cotton gathered to the acre on the Langdon than
any other part of the place. The Zell’S was next.
From my own experience, and in the opinion of
all farmers who took notice of it, the Langdon
Fertilizer was far superior to any that we used.

Mr. THOM AS H. Kennedy, of Meridian, Miss.,
after recounting his experience in the use of the
Langdon Fertilizer, says; “When I lived on mv
plantation in Alabama, I used many kinds of
Manure, buts never used anything that would
begin to compare with the Langdon Fertilizer.’’

Os Its cheapness, Col. Langdon says: “Its
cheapness—l am fully convinced that, at the
price now fixed by you, to-wit: $55 per ton, it
is much the cheapest fertilizer in our market.
Pound for pound, I consider it more valuable
than the preparations that are Selling at $75 to
SBO. For my own use, 1 would greatly prefer it
to Peruvian Guano at the same price.’’ Os its
merits, he says: “The result is the best Fertil
izer in the world for our Southern lands, in my
opinion.”
Again: “It contains more fully and complete
ly than any other, the elements ncccessary for
the production of Southern crops and the reno
vation of Southern soil.
Frof.Charles U. Shepard, Jr., M. D., Professor
of Chemistry South Carolina Medical College,
and Inspector of Fertilizers tor South Carolina,
who made a full and careful analysis of the
Langdon Fertilizer, says of it: “It is a very su
perior article.”

are ground fine. Price at the Mills, $45 per ton.
