J. J. HOWARD, Ordinary li. C. July 28 1870- GEORGIA. VOL. 9. CARTERSVILLE, BARTOW COIATT, GEORGIA, ATG. 10, 1870. TO PHYSICIANS. New August 15th, 1868 Allow me to call your attention to my Preparation of Compound Extract Buchu. The component parts are BUCHU LONG LEAF, CUBEBS, JUNIPER BERRIES. Mode of Preparation. —Buchu, in vacno. Juniper Berries, by distillation, to form a fine gm. Cubebs extracted by displacement with spirits spirits obtained from Juniper Berries: very little sugar is used, and a small proportion of spirit. It is more palateable than any now in use. Buchu, as prepared by Druggists, is of alight color. It is a plant that emits its fragrance ; the action of a flame destroys this (its active nrinoiple,) leaving a dark and glutinous decoction. Mine is the color’of ingredients. The Buchu in my preparation predomi nates; the smallest quantity of the other ingredients are added, to prevent fermentation ; upon inspec tion, it will be found not to be a Tincture, as made in Pharmacopoea, nor is it a Syrup— and therefore can be used in cases where fever or inflammation ex ist. In this, you have the knowledge of the ingredi ents and the mo le of preparation. Hoping that you will favor it with a trial and that upon inspection it will meet with your approbation With a feeling of confidence, I am very respectfully yours, 11. The proprietor of this celebrated medicine justly claims for it a superiority over all remedies ever offer ed to the public for the safe, certain, speedy and per manent euro of Ague and Fever ,or Chilis and Fever \vhe>her of short or longstanding. lie refers to the entire western and Southwestern country to bear him testimony to the truth of the assertion, that in no case whatever will it fail to cure, if the directions are strict ly followed and ca~ried out. In a great many cases a single dose has been sufficient for a cure, and whole families have been cured by a single bottle, with a per fect restoration of the general health. It is, however prudent, and In every case more certain to cure, if its use is continued in smaller doses for a week or two af ter the disease has been checked, more especially in difficult and long standing cases. As Annie was carrying the baby one day, Tossing aloft the lump of inanity, Dear to its father and mother no doubt— To the rest of the world a lump of hu nanity Sam came along, and was thinking then, maybe, Full as much of Annie as she of the baby. ‘‘Just look at the baby,'* cried Annie, in a flutter. Giving its locks round her fingers a twill; “If I was a man I know that I couldn't be Keeping my hands off a dear little girl." And Sam gave wink as if to say “mavbe. Os fke girls I’d rather hug you than th’ baby." “Now kiss it," she cried, still hugging it closer, “Its mouth's like the roses the honey-bee sips!” Sam stooped to obey, and as beads came to gether, There chanced to arise a coufurion of lips! And as it occured. it might have been, maybe, That each got a kiss, Sam Ann and the baby! It's hard to tell what just then was tli’ matter, For the baby was the only oue innocent there; And Annie flushed up like a full blown peony, And Samuel turned red to the roots of his hair; So the question is thus—you can answer it, maybe, Did Annie kiss Sam, or did both kiss the baby ? We made a rapid run from Altoony down hill to Ettawa river, and then to Kartersvill. This wood be a large sitty if there war houses enuff iu it.— It is anise plase. At Kass stashun one of your onerable comitymcu broke out suddenly, and sed, “I think I smell a j fraud here; let’s stop aud look into it.” We went into a pashunt investerga tion and inveloped the following sacks. Fust and foremost, we larnt that a sartin lady had sum fine milk cows that jumped into a nabors feeld close to the ralerode. The aforesed nabor ordered a Irishman to turn ’em out or cut ther throtes. Ov corse he didn’t meen that ther throtes shood be cut, but that tlia shood be turned out’n the feeld; but the sed Irishman miskonstrued the aforesed order, and ? after shootin the kattel, cut all ther throtes and lade them near the rale road track. Ov corse the hanus deed was lade to the grate Stait rode, the Irishman bavin fled to parts onnone. After much parlyn, the rale rode aw tbawifies konkluded to pay for the kattel, sum or the ofisurs agreein to put sum ov the munny into ther own pockets. As it was a small afar, only eyolvin about fore or five thousand dol lars, and more over, we havin no rite to inquire into the privit bizness ov the ofisurs, we passed on to Kinkston, which we thort mite be made a large sitty if the people wood come and set tle in it. It turned out to be nothin but a blunt sort ov afar after all. It was nothin but a spotted boss stabled on a hill. We went on then to Chatternug, him tin after everything that your on erable boddy charged your onerable comity with. Wo couldn’t find no frauds any war on the rout; and wo don’t blceve such things was ever found on the grate Sfcait Rode of the linpire State of Georgy. Finding frauds and such like things at no pint, and havin pashuutly hunted for, and I falod to fiud, that mithical critter, Miss Manajemont, wo turned our hole attenshun to the biziness of corrup tion; and now we feel it our boundin duty to give your onerable boddy a full and satisfactory account of how wo performed that duty. Your onerable comity held a niect in at an urly day to hunt up all tho authorities we cood on the subjick of corrupshun. We begun with the dick shunaries. We found so meny rneen ius to the word we cood not make out egsakly which one your onerable bod dy ment that wo shood foller. After much discusshun about tho different meenins, we at last konkluded that your onerable boddy wished us to find out if thar was ennythiug putrid or un clean about the rode that wood indan ger the health ov the ofisurs thereof; so we went to work to find out if thar war any ded carkasis, rich as cats, dogs, rats or enny other varmiuts, or if thar war enny heaps of filthy stuff enny war about the depos, shops or otises. We put up all the offiaurs of the rodo and swore em to tell the truth, the ov^enny 1, corrupshun. They all sed they node none. They give us all we wanted to eat and drink, and plenty ov munny besides. They all seemed well supplied with munny.— In fact, the grate Stat lode of the im pire State ov Georgy makes so much munny that all hands on it gits a plen ty for themselves and friends. Your onerable comity got lots ov it, and now close by returnin thanks to your onerable bodky for puttin us on tho comity. This is the eend ov our re port. The Stait Rode Comity. MINORITY REPORT. Tlie onerable minority ov your oner able comity beg leave to report. Wo found plenty ov frauds. Wo saw lots* ov corrupshun. We think the rode is in amity bad condishun.
