FEMALE WEAKNESS 642 1-2 Congress St. POBTLAKD, liAIWB, Oet. 17, 190*. I consider Wise of Cardui superior to any doctor’s medicine I ever used and I know whereof I apeak. I suf fered for nine months with suppressed menstruation which completely pros trated me. Pains would shoot through my back and sides and 1 would hare blinding headaches. My limbs would swell up and I would feci so weak I could not stand up. 1 naturally felt discouraged for I seemed to be beyond the help of physicians, but Wine of Cardui came as a God-send to me. I felt a change for the better within a week. After nineteen days treatment I menstruated without suffering the agonies I usually did and soon becanas regular and without pain. Wine of Cardui is simply wonderful and I wish that all suffering seamen knew of its good qualities fa h <|ji n Treasurer. Portland Economic League Periodical headaches tell of fe male weakness. Wine of Cardui cures pemiaaeatiy nineteen out of every twenty cases of irregular menses, bearing down pains or any female weakness. If you are discouraged and doctors hare failed, that is the best reason in the world yon should try Wine of Cardui now. Remember that headaches mean female weakness. The words "senior” and “junior” are rapidly going out of date in fashionable society in Gotham. These suffixes have never been pop ular in England, the country that New York patterns a good deal aft er, and for the last couple of years there has been a perceptible drop ping of the “Sr.” alid “Jr.” from cards here. After much discussion it has been generally conceded that the senior members of families of the same name shall be called Mr. and Mrs. So-and-so and that the next in line of the same name shall be called Mr. and Mrs, John Smith or whatever the family name may be. To speak of “Mrs. Smith” means that that lady is the acknowledged head of the female side of the house. She also takes precedence in social affairs. To Remove Warts. Warts may be removed, says a celebrated physician, by rubbing them night and morning with a moistened piece of muriate of am monia (sal ammoniac). The}' soften and dwindle away, leaving no such mark as follows their dispersion ft ith lunar caustic. And now the time is eagerly looked forward to In Russia whon it can be announced that baby baa a tooth. —Minneapolis Journal. ALL OVER THE HOUSE. Causes, Prevention and Treatment of Croup. The two greatest causes of croup, I have found, are damp feet and a bilious condition. Mothers do not fay sufficient attention to seeing that the children’s feet are dry, es pecially in the winter. Tnen, if a child is bilious, he will take cold so easily. By close watching a mother can usually tell if the child is likely to have eroup at night. The best preventive is “grandmother’s” good old dose of castor oil with two or three drops of turpentine in it, the child taking it before breakfast. Heat the cup, put in a teaepoonful of vinegar, then the oil, warmed, and, the taste being somewhat dis guised, the medicine will go down ■quick. If a child is attacked with croup and the case is severe, give a tea spoonful of pulverized alum mixgd with, a teaspoonful of sugar every’ hour; every two hours otherwise. Next mix half a teaspoonful of tur pentine and one of spirits of cam phor with one tablespoonful each of mutton tallow and of coal oil. Heat and dip a piece of flannel in it as hot as possible, putting it on the child’s chest and well up round the throat, covering it with a hot, dry' flannel. This will relieve when the child is gasping and choking for breath. —Housekeeper. Makes Washing Easy. While water is heating in the boil er shave good laundry soap and put to melt on the stove in half a gallon of water. Then take off, let cool a few minutes outdoors and stir in a cupful of gasoline. Pour this into the tub, put in the whitest clothes, let soak for fifteen minutes, wring out, rinse in hot water and hang to dry. Treat the rest of the clothes in the same way, and the morning work and the wash can thus be done at the same time.
