Miss Helen Peeples made a trip to Atlanta some days ago. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Price spent last week in Macon. Mrs. J. E Scott was a recent visitor to Cartersville. H. C. Fincher spent last week in Atlanta and Zebulon. Miss Julia Veach spent several days in Atlanta last week. Miss Sue Milner, of Barnesville, for merly a popular teacher in the Cher okee Institute, made a short visit to Mrs. J. W. Bradley recently. Mrs. Doc Williams has been mak ing a visit to her mother at Knox ville, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. K. D. Chilton made a snort trip to Some last week, J. R. Combs has returned from a stay at Quitman. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Slatten, of Smyr na, were the guests of the Misses Adams Saturday. Dr. Joe P. Bowdoin spent a part of last week in Macon attending the grand lodge of Masons. Miss Ida Shelton spent several days in Atlanta recently. Miss Lulie Trimble is spending a portion of this wek in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. 0. Bishop were visitors to Kingston last week to attend the marriage of Miss Rogers to Dr. Mcßryde. Miss Annie Hamilton, of Atlanta, has returned to her home after a visit to the Misses Trimble# A jolly party of young people spent Hallow’een evening with Mrs. J. E. Scott. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Boyd are expec ted home from St. Louis this week. Mrs. Joe P. Bowdoin, spent a part of last week in Atlanta, the guest of Mrs. S, Y. .Jamison. Misses Gussie Trimble and Bessie Anderson have returned from a visit of some weeks to Miss Annie Gibbons, at Bauxite, Ark. W. M. King was a visitor to Car teisvihe last week. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Trimble will return from a visit to St Louis, and the fair. A building boom has certainly struck Adairsville, during the past few weeks. The handsome warehouse is an ornament to any town. The new residences of J. H. Word, W. S. Brad ley, B. F. Blanton, and W. P. Whit worth, will sill be attractive buildings, when completed. Quite a number of houses have been improved by fresh paint. Col. Ross Thomas has bought out Mr. Lewis, of the firm of Hightower & Lewis. The firm is now' High tower & Thomas. Col. Thomas w ill devote his time to the business. G. B. Elrod spent a portion of last w’eek in Cartersville. Miss Lula Brogdon, of Gordon county,has been A r isiting her brother’s family on Park street. Miss Dell Lumpkin has been up from Cartersville on a visit to her sister, Mrs.l. E. Scott. Prof. G. O. Gunter was called to Mc- Donough last week by the sudden death of his father. J. M. Anderson Avas a visitor to Cartersville last week. Mrs. C. W. Wray has returned from a visit to relatives at Athens. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Maxwell, of Car tersville, speut last Thursday in this city. K- S- Anderson and bride, of Madison, spent a portion of last week Avith the family of N- C- Anderson on Park street. Mrs. A. E. Ware and children have been spending some days with Mrs. Price Turner on Railroad street. The marriage of Miss Ida Shelton and Mr. J. W. Tierce, of Sugar Hill, Avhich occurred at the home of the brides parents in this city on Monday evening of last week was a quiet home affair witnessed by relatives and a few 1 friends. KINGSTON. Mr. Frank Milton Hargis, of Eu faula, Ala after attending the Rog ers-Mcßryde, w edding returned home Wednesday night. , The Historical Club was delightful ly entertained last Thursday after noon at the home of Mrs. R. L. Max well. Mr. J. Jack Hill spent last Sunday with his sister, Mrs. S. I. Sheats. Rev. J. M. Tumlin leaves for St. Louis Tuesday. Dr. and Mrs. Arnold, of Ford, are going to move to our city this w r eek. They will occupy the Gilliam house on Main street. Mr.and Mrs. Edgar Griffin,of Ligon, will move in the Gilliam Louse on Railroad street, this week. Rev- J. M. Tum’in, conducted the fuiierai services uf Miss Theresa Moore, of Rome, at their old home place last Sunday afternoon. Miss Moore, until recently was living near us and Avas greatly beloved. The tee family have our sincerest sym pathy. Mrs, Henderson, of Stilesboro, spent Saturday and Sunday Avith Mr. aud Mrs. W. H. Griffin. Prof. Whittenburg was in your city Saturday. Mrs. Marie Gilliam, is A'isiting among friends. Mr. and Mrs. JohnMeKelvey spent last Tuesdav in your city. Mrs. R. R. Whitehead left last Thursday for Americus, Ga., where she was met by Mr. Whitehead. PINE LOG. The village of Pine Log is now on a boom. The telephone line is being constructed. Railroad is being graded in one mile of village- The new college is almost ready for school, which will begin the 14th inst- Messrs. L. 8- Vincent and J. W - Boston have built two new cottages, several more residences are needed for school- Water is scarce. Master Bob Adair, the little son of Mr. Moss Adair, was thrown from a mule and had his wrist very badly fractured, after several days suffering he was carried to'his uncle, Dr. Bob Adair, at Taylorsville, where his arm w r as amputated- We are glad to learn he is improving- Mr- Ausley Vincent Jr- was in your city Saturday. FOLSOM. Mr. and Mrs. Dowel Barton lost their infant daughter last week. A little son of Mr. and Mrs. Chat tarn died recently with membranous croup. As is usually the case with this fatal disease, the syinptons did not develop till too late to save the little fellow's life Mr. Chattam is very sick himself at this writing. The quarterly meeting was held with the Methodist church here on Saturday and Sunday last. The school opened on the 6th instant with Mr. Thomas Head as principal. We trus-t he will be able to build up a good school. We notice some Walesca students down among home folks Sunday. Miss Anna Anderson and Mr. Jack Clemmons, of Linwood; Mrs. John Anderson, recently from Shawnee, Okl., and little daughter, Villa, v sited relatives here the past week. Mrs. Anderson says that Oklahomqma is indeed a wonderful country, but old Bartow 1 is j*ood enough for any *who will work. miss Georgia Williams left the first of the week for Atlanta, where she goes for surgical treatment. Abernathy, and family last Saturday for the first time in two years. . The all day singing at Macedonia church last Sunday was enjoyed by all who were present. Quite an interesting marriage oc curred at this place recently. The par ticipants were Miss Lizzie Roberts and Mr. LaFayette Worley. Miss Roberts was known to be the most beautiful young lady in this community. Mr. Worley is a prosperous farmer. Their many friends extend to them their best wishes. Miss Corinelia Sewell will go to Dewey in a few Ayeeks to begin her literary school there. Miss Alma Findley has gone to. Rockmart to visit her sister. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Edge made a flying trip to this community last week- Mr. and Mrs. J- R- Richardson and family visited relatives here last Sun day. Miss Waddie Roberts, of Pine Log, visited old friends here recently. Mr- C Maxwell passed through our midst last Sunday. Dr. James Findley from near Cave Springs spent se\'eral days here with his father last week Miss SaA*annah Young and Mr. James Kirkland, a deaf and dumb man, were married at Waleska a few weeks ago. Mr. E. B. Richardson and daughter visited relatives’at Colima last Satur day and Sunday. VALLEY VIEW. Farmers are almost through gath ering their crops. Mr. William Jackson has purchased the McConnell place, near here. Mr. and Mrs. Max Scl\euer and chil dren were visitors in the community Sunday. . Mr. and Mrs. Martin spent Saturday and Sunday near the Etowah river. There is talk of anew railroad going through this section, Mr. Albert Cox is in Cartersville this week serving as a juryman- Mr. P >ssom is laying low now. The boys and dogs are after him.
